WHAT IS MURAL ART ?
Mural art is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly
on a wall, ceiling or other large permanent surface. A
distinguishing characteristic of mural painting is that the
architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously
incorporated into the picture.

Melaka Raya needs no introduction to
Malacca’s urbanites and regular
visitors, as it is well-known as the
definitive one-stop destination for a
plethora of dining, entertainment,
shopping and accommodation options.
The area is host to some of Malacca’s
better bars and nightlife, plus it’s only a
short walk to the historic centre and
Chinatown.
Regarded by some as Malacca’s core, this area consists of two shopping
centers’, a medical centre, two serviced apartment hotels and a 5-Star
international class hotel as well as a slew of banks, restaurants and sundry
stores.
CHARLES CHAM
Charles Cham is a Malaysian born
artist who is very famous for his arts
which he showcased his art around
the world. He had lived and painted
infront of New York and Budapest and
his works are in private collection in
more than 40 countries. Currently
based in Malacca working from his
studio in an old wooden house, in an
area surrounded by brightly painted
Chinese shop. He has gutted and
painted with his trademark with vivid
colours and dedicts his commitment
to social activism with the text of the
declaration of human rights is painted
on the wall
CHARLES CHAM’S VISION
Charles Cham had been a very well-known and a
remarkable artist in Malaysia as he contributes a lot to
the beautiful country. He is a role model to a lot of
young free artist all around Malaysia because of his
dedication and beautiful meaningful Artworks. He
supported a lot of fund-raising charity events all
around Malaysia to make a world a better place.
He had a vision to give more opportunity to
young artist in Malaysia to show their
potential by organized a lot of Arts events
in Malaysia. So far he had gained 15 new
young Artist that is really talented to have
a opportunity to travel the world and learn
the way of international arts.

Tarik Upih is a type of malay tradisional
amusement for the kids in the old days
•
This game is known in a few asian countries
•
They uses fallen palm leaves to play this game
•
This game requires 2 people, one person have
to be the person dragginf the leaves and the
other person sits on the leaves

The child is having fun getting pulled on the
leaf
FIRST IMPRESSION

The first scene that strikes the viewers eye is
the enjoyment of the children on the leafs

Viewers are attracted by the way of using the
leafs as a game.
•
In the mural art above shows how children
enjoy playing with traditional games.
VISUAL PREFERENCE
•
The first response of the viewer towards the
mural art is strange towards the traditional
game, viewer prefer a more modern games.
•
The preference of the viewer towards the
traditional game encourage the viewers to
play more modern game.
•
This is because the viewers are not used to
traditional games anymore.
PERCEPTION
•
The mural art shows the similarity age of the
children playing the traditional game.
BODY MOVEMENT
•
The body movements in the mural art is
movement of the children getting pulled
together with the leafs .
•
The mural art shows the movement of the
person pulling the leafs on opposite
directions.

ROLLING THE HOOP
( KELERENG )
•
Kelereng is game that needs to be payed in a
field .The field have to be flat surface with a
width of 1m and distance of 40m
•
This game can be played individually and in
teams
•
The way this game is played is to guide the hoop
to the finish line
•
Instrument that is used to played for this game
is a bicycle rim and “patok sangga” which is
15cm long

This mural art shows the similar arrangement
of the kelereng.

2 person running at the similar direction while
playing with the kelereng.

towards the enjoyment of the children with
the kelereng.

Viewers are attracted by the materials they
use to make the kelereng with a bamboo stick.
BODY MOVEMENT AND POSTURE
•
Body movements in the mural art is the
children pushing the kelereng forward.
•
The childrens had to balance their body
posture to balance the kelereng.
GESTURE AND EXPRESSION
•
The child is smiling while playing with the
kelereng
•
The child look happy and cheerful.
VISUAL PREFERENCE
•
The first response of the viewer towards the
mural art as an exciting game to play with
children and adults.
•
The viewers would prefer the mural art to be
made together with children and adults.
•
This is a traditional game which is still being
played in the society nowdays.
CONCLUSION OF MURAL
ART IN MALACCA
•
Both of the mural arts portrays nostalgic
childhood memories. The two mural arts are
traditional games that were played back in the
days by people of all ages regradless of their
gender

ARTS
LOCATION OF MURAL ART
IN KUALA LUMPUR
The Centre for Malaysian Culture,
Heritage, Art & CraftCentral Market Kuala
Lumpur began life as a wet market in
1888; built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s
Chinese Kapitan. It served as a
prominent landmark in colonial and
modern-day Kuala Lumpur.
When it was relocated in the 1980s, the
Malaysian Heritage Society successfully
petitioned against the demolition of the
building, and it was subsequently
declared a centre for Malaysian arts,
culture and handicraft.
Kasturi Walk In affirming its position as a world-class tourist destination, the
Kasturi Walk at Central Market Kuala Lumpur opened in 2011.
This outdoor and covered pedestrianised lane running alongside the main
building is lined with kiosks and stalls, adding a vibrant al fresco ambience to
the Central Market Kuala Lumpur shopping experience.
AHMAD BAKRI
SALLEH Ahmad Bakri Salleh also known
as Mat is a malaysian born
talented artist. He was born in
Perlis and grew up there. At the
age of 18 he went to ALAM
( Akedemi Laut Malaysia ) in
Malacca but he stopped just 4
months there. He joined the
Academy because of his Father's
sake but he realised it was not
the course he wanted to persue . Then he joined Sri Cahaya Art Acedemy to
persue his to become an Artist. He studied there for a short course then he
moved to Uitm Shah Alam in Selangor. He took an Art Course at the University
now he currently studying there and he is persuing his Masters there. During
his degree year he did a lot of Artworks all around Malaysia. He also created a
group in his University called " Inspiration Inside". The group is consist of
young talented artist all around Malaysia that do a lot of Charity Artworks.
INSPIRATION
INSIDE Inspiration Inside had been a very
active group in Malaysia. They did a lot
of Charity Works all over Malaysia such
as the "The Revolving Art". The progra
m is focused on the painting the walls
of Klang Valley that had been corrupted
with "Gravity Arts". Instead of
spreading "Gravity Arts" that gave no
meaning and moral values, The Group
Inspiration Inside overlayed it Meaning-
full Mural Arts. They had done several
projects in Kuala Lumur Pasar Seni that is
Illusion 3D Art Gallery. The place is their
biggest project achievement so far. They
had gained their popularity and now they
took their group in a higher level that is
international.

Cobbler is a person who makes or repairs
shoes
•
As a cobbler he needs a lot of patience and
dedication
•
As a cobbler he needs to be a perfectionist as
every part of the footwear need to be done with
full of dedication.

The scene that strikes the viewers eyes is
towards the tools that the cobbler used to
mend the shoes.

Viewers are also fascinated by the cobblers

of the shoes on the cobblers table.

The art shows the cobblers movements while
mending the shoes.

This mural art is drawing attention to the
cobbler which doing a hardwork mending the
shoes to be fixed.

Shows how amazing human architucture and

view from the top of the bridge.

the San Francisco bridge above ground level.

It also shows cars moving from both side of the

The conflict of this mural art is what other
people see when they are contemplating what
they see.
SUBJECTIVE PERCEPTION
•
This mural art is trying to convey that
sometimes people need to isolate themselves
from the urban life and seek solace.
•
Sometimes we live in the busy life, we forgot
that we don’t really matter if we see it from
the bigger picture.
•
It can also shows the last view of a person
who is trying to commit suicide and life is
meaningless.
VISUAL PREFERENCE
•
The first response of a viewer on the mural art
is a mix feeling of blithe and isolation of being
alone on top of the bridge.
MOVEMENT
•
We get to see movement of cars from the
mural art.

  • 2. WHAT IS MURAL ART ? Mural art is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other large permanent surface. A distinguishing characteristic of mural painting is that the architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the picture.

LOCATION OF MURAL ART IN MALACCA TAMAN MALACCA RAYA Melaka Raya needs no introduction to Malacca’s urbanites and regular visitors, as it is well-known as the definitive one-stop destination for a plethora of dining, entertainment, shopping and accommodation options. The area is host to some of Malacca’s better bars and nightlife, plus it’s only a short walk to the historic centre and Chinatown. Regarded by some as Malacca’s core, this area consists of two shopping centers’, a medical centre, two serviced apartment hotels and a 5-Star international class hotel as well as a slew of banks, restaurants and sundry stores.
  • 5. CHARLES CHAM Charles Cham is a Malaysian born artist who is very famous for his arts which he showcased his art around the world. He had lived and painted infront of New York and Budapest and his works are in private collection in more than 40 countries. Currently based in Malacca working from his studio in an old wooden house, in an area surrounded by brightly painted Chinese shop. He has gutted and painted with his trademark with vivid colours and dedicts his commitment to social activism with the text of the declaration of human rights is painted on the wall
  • 6. CHARLES CHAM’S VISION Charles Cham had been a very well-known and a remarkable artist in Malaysia as he contributes a lot to the beautiful country. He is a role model to a lot of young free artist all around Malaysia because of his dedication and beautiful meaningful Artworks. He supported a lot of fund-raising charity events all around Malaysia to make a world a better place. He had a vision to give more opportunity to young artist in Malaysia to show their potential by organized a lot of Arts events in Malaysia. So far he had gained 15 new young Artist that is really talented to have a opportunity to travel the world and learn the way of international arts.

DRAGGING THE LEAF ( TARIK UPIH ) • Tarik Upih is a type of malay tradisional amusement for the kids in the old days • This game is known in a few asian countries • They uses fallen palm leaves to play this game • This game requires 2 people, one person have to be the person dragginf the leaves and the other person sits on the leaves

  • 10. 10 NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION • The mural art shows body movements • The child is having fun getting pulled on the leaf
  • 11. FIRST IMPRESSION • The first scene that strikes the viewers eye is the enjoyment of the children on the leafs • Viewers are attracted by the way of using the leafs as a game. • In the mural art above shows how children enjoy playing with traditional games.

VISUAL PREFERENCE • The first response of the viewer towards the mural art is strange towards the traditional game, viewer prefer a more modern games. • The preference of the viewer towards the traditional game encourage the viewers to play more modern game. • This is because the viewers are not used to traditional games anymore.
  • 13. PERCEPTION • The mural art shows the similarity age of the children playing the traditional game.
  • 14. BODY MOVEMENT • The body movements in the mural art is movement of the children getting pulled together with the leafs . • The mural art shows the movement of the person pulling the leafs on opposite directions.
  • 15. 15 ROLLING THE HOOP ( KELERENG ) • Kelereng is game that needs to be payed in a field .The field have to be flat surface with a width of 1m and distance of 40m • This game can be played individually and in teams • The way this game is played is to guide the hoop to the finish line • Instrument that is used to played for this game is a bicycle rim and “patok sangga” which is 15cm long
  • 17. PROXIMITY • This mural art shows the similar arrangement of the kelereng. • 2 person running at the similar direction while playing with the kelereng.
  • 18. FIRST IMPRESSION • The first scene that strikes the viewers eye is towards the enjoyment of the children with the kelereng. • Viewers are attracted by the materials they use to make the kelereng with a bamboo stick.
  • 19. BODY MOVEMENT AND POSTURE • Body movements in the mural art is the children pushing the kelereng forward. • The childrens had to balance their body posture to balance the kelereng.
  • 20. GESTURE AND EXPRESSION • The child is smiling while playing with the kelereng • The child look happy and cheerful.

VISUAL PREFERENCE • The first response of the viewer towards the mural art as an exciting game to play with children and adults. • The viewers would prefer the mural art to be made together with children and adults. • This is a traditional game which is still being played in the society nowdays.
  • 22. CONCLUSION OF MURAL ART IN MALACCA • Both of the mural arts portrays nostalgic childhood memories. The two mural arts are traditional games that were played back in the days by people of all ages regradless of their gender

This outdoor and covered pedestrianised lane running alongside the main building is lined with kiosks and stalls, adding a vibrant al fresco ambience to the Central Market Kuala Lumpur shopping experience.
  • 25. AHMAD BAKRI SALLEH Ahmad Bakri Salleh also known as Mat is a malaysian born talented artist. He was born in Perlis and grew up there. At the age of 18 he went to ALAM ( Akedemi Laut Malaysia ) in Malacca but he stopped just 4 months there. He joined the Academy because of his Father's sake but he realised it was not the course he wanted to persue . Then he joined Sri Cahaya Art Acedemy to persue his to become an Artist. He studied there for a short course then he moved to Uitm Shah Alam in Selangor. He took an Art Course at the University now he currently studying there and he is persuing his Masters there. During his degree year he did a lot of Artworks all around Malaysia. He also created a group in his University called " Inspiration Inside". The group is consist of young talented artist all around Malaysia that do a lot of Charity Artworks.
  • 26. INSPIRATION INSIDE Inspiration Inside had been a very active group in Malaysia. They did a lot of Charity Works all over Malaysia such as the "The Revolving Art". The progra m is focused on the painting the walls of Klang Valley that had been corrupted with "Gravity Arts". Instead of spreading "Gravity Arts" that gave no meaning and moral values, The Group Inspiration Inside overlayed it Meaning- full Mural Arts. They had done several projects in Kuala Lumur Pasar Seni that is Illusion 3D Art Gallery. The place is their biggest project achievement so far. They had gained their popularity and now they took their group in a higher level that is international.

  • 28. THE STREET COBBLER • Cobbler is a person who makes or repairs shoes • As a cobbler he needs a lot of patience and dedication • As a cobbler he needs to be a perfectionist as every part of the footwear need to be done with full of dedication.
  • 30. FIRST EXPRESSION • The scene that strikes the viewers eyes is towards the tools that the cobbler used to mend the shoes. • Viewers are also fascinated by the cobblers determination and hardwork.
  • 31. Proximity • The mural art shows the similar arrangement of the shoes on the cobblers table.
  • 32. NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION • The art shows the cobblers movements while mending the shoes.
  • 33. SELECTIVE ATTENTION • This mural art is drawing attention to the cobbler which doing a hardwork mending the shoes to be fixed.
  • 34. POSTURE • The mural art shows the cobbler is a sitting posture.
  • 35. ON TOP OF THE BRIDGE • Shows how amazing human architucture and design. • You are able to experience the breathtaking view from the top of the bridge. • The height itslef shows how in big world we are curently living
  • 37. NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION • This mural art shows a view of the water from the San Francisco bridge above ground level. • It also shows cars moving from both side of the road and the land at the other side of the bridge.
  • 38. CONFLICT • The conflict of this mural art is what other people see when they are contemplating what they see.

SUBJECTIVE PERCEPTION • This mural art is trying to convey that sometimes people need to isolate themselves from the urban life and seek solace. • Sometimes we live in the busy life, we forgot that we don’t really matter if we see it from the bigger picture. • It can also shows the last view of a person who is trying to commit suicide and life is meaningless.
  • 40. VISUAL PREFERENCE • The first response of a viewer on the mural art is a mix feeling of blithe and isolation of being alone on top of the bridge.
