4. 8.Jimmy “The Superfly” Snuka I grappled with this choice for a long time. High flying wrestling owes so much to Jimmy Snuka, but I still feel torn about putting him number eight. This Samoan is often credited with bring high flying to the WWF and his Superfly Splash is THE finishing move for high flyers. To give you a sense of how long the Superfly was doing this, he debuted in 1969-70. Do you even know what wrestling was like back then? He was a pioneer and many wrestling fans of the day owe him a thank you if they love the high flyers of today.
5. 7.Rey Mysterio Rey Mysterio rose to the top of the wrestling world with his legs. He would leap from anything and everything, swing from the ropes and hurricarana anyone. I don't need to give too much of an introduction here. Simply, Rey Mysterio was one of the best in the game. Injuries have plagued him, but that isn't surprising when you perform as many amazing spots as he does. A personal favorite was his front flip on to a prone Fit Finlay lying on a stretcher. Of course there is the 619, which I can take or leave, but when Rey is really moving and using every part of the ring to his advantage, his quickness and agility can be astounding.
6. 6.Paul London When you think of the word Moonsault, you've got to be thinking Paul London. I mean this guy could jump from the ropes about ten feet, and still do a full moonsault. Paul London jumps could have been the most impressive as anybody, I mean he got The Shooting Star Press banned. He was so good at executing High Flying moves and that is why he got at number sixt. London may have not had the strength but he made up for it with his captivating High Flying. Paul is famous for his flying in many diffrent promotions all over the world. Paul is an athlete all right, and one of the most outstanding High Flyers in the world. His time in WWE was cut short, but he still remains as memory of being one of the greatest high flyers of all time.
7. 5.Ricky “The Dragon” Steambot Many of you might not have seen Ricky Steamboat wrestle and might think of him as the puffy man you see walking behind the scenes sometimes. I won't preach but Steamboat is a legend for many reasons, and one of them has to be his willingness to take to the air. His flying crossbody block finish WAS high flying in his day and Steamboat made it popular. His contributions to the air game can't be ignored. For those of you who have never watched a Steamboat match, check out this brawl with Flair. Simply awesome.
8. 3.Rob Van Dam Watching Rob Van Dam wrestle was a thing of beauty. Sure, the guy had his very obvious spots and you can levy whatever criticism against him for that. But, it was Rob's ability to adjust midflight to what his opponent was doing that kicked my ass. He would spring off the ropes, use them to slingshot himself and jump from the top rope with regularity. His educated feet make him more of Steamboat type high flyer, but this guy went way above and beyond that. Sheer athleticism and creativity made Rob Van Dam into the star, his fearlessness in the air made him one of the best.
9. 3.Eddie Guerero Eddie Guerrero doesn't need an introduction. As a high flyer, Eddie is best known for his frog splash (also performed by his nephew Chavo). Eddie combined his many physical gifts to become one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the business and his ability as a high flyer played a large role in that. The Frog Splash was often used later in his career but he mixed in slingshots over the ropes, one hell of a drop kick, and other techniques into his matches.
10. 2.Evan Bourne Wrestling under the name Evan Bourne, Matt Sydal has been around the block a few times. He spent time in Japan, ROH, the IWA, TNA and now the WWE. His cyclorama might be one of my favorite moves from people on this list, but Sydal has a variety of traditional moves and utilizes his speed and agility to make the crowd pop. But if that doesn't convince, he will also leap up and hurricarana people sitting on the top rope. The amount of ups you need to do something like that is mind-boggling.
11. 1.Jeff Hardy There is no limit to the amount of high flying that Jeff Hardy executes. Jeff Hardy has no range what so ever for Jeff Hardy, I mean the guy has jumped up to 70 feet before. Jeff Hardy in my opinion is the greatest High Flyer ever, and I think Justin Thomas can back me up on this choice. Jeff has jumped off of ladders, roofs, and whatever the hell is jumpable. Jeff has risked his body for every chance or move he takes, Flying is in his blood. Jeff Hardy has been through hell with hi sbody after all of his devastating leaps. Heights they don't matter, risks for Jeff Hardy well he is willing to take them. Never backing down from them. That is why jeff Hardy is the greatest high flyer ever and that is why he is ranked number one.
