What is CHOUETTE?
a software dedicated to scheduled data
What is IRYS?
a software dedicated to real-time information
Why did we do it? To foster the (re)-use of « interoperable » data (= use of
standards, data of good quality…)
Why/When should I consider using it? Whenever I wish to:
visualise transport data;
convert (import or export) transport data;
validate and control transport data: is my dataset aligned with existing
standards?
create, manage or update transport data

Food for thought:
what possible evolutions for CHOUETTE and IRYS?
Known functional limitations :
a need to support NeTEx profiles?
a need for a real data management platform including multi-source
data provision and workflow management?
a need to go beyond public transport? car-pooling, car-sharing, bike-
sharing… ?
A shift in the management process:
two new and major contributors for CHOUETTE: STIF (RBOS project)
and Norway (Rutebank project); contributions will be opened!
evolving towards a real collaborative development
a need to deeply work on governance issues

Context today:
Many transport operators use open-source software; but it is still very
hard to convince them to collaborate!
They own ONE open source software (in various domains); but do not
wish to use other operators tools!
Most of these open-source tools are NOTcompatible with each other!
