4. What To Do When
Pitching Yourself
â Tell the brand how you specifically are going to drive different
results for them.
â If youâve worked with brands already, mention how the
partnership went in regards to the sales and click-through rates
you generated. Use bit.ly to track all your links.
â If you havenât worked with anyone yet, simply pitch them an
idea.
â Donât make brands think of creative ways to work with youâthat
is your job.

Reach out to companies that would complement YOUR brand#SocialInfluenz
5. You donât have to have a
huge following or get
hundreds of thousands of
views a month, but you do
need to be influential.
6. The Chicken Sandwich Debate
Pay attention to what companies
are doing.
How can you help or be part of the
movement?

9. Finding the right
contact for a brand
There are different ways to find the correct
contact person for a brand. Here is a list:
â Email: Info@XXXX.com
â LinkedIn: go to the company page, go to
employees, and then search for marketing
and public relations.
â Visit the Press/Media page
â Ask a fellow blogger/influencer

10. To media kit or not media kit?
Thatâs the real question, right guys?
So, should you attach your media kit to the first email you send to a
brand? My unconventional opinion on this is YES.
Media kits lay out the majority of the info a brand or PR firm needsâŠand
it can help see your work at glance.
Donât have one? NO worries. I got you covered!

12. Whatâs in a Pitch
THE PITCH
â Write a short and catchy subject line.
â Include a direct link to your Instagram and blog, not to a press
pageâdonât make them have to do any extra steps!
â Include your qualitative stats: Engagement rate, Monthly views,
Audience demographics
â Quickly list the top 3 brands youâve worked with, and then link to
each of the promotions.
â If youâre a newbie and havenât worked with any brands yet,
include your growth from month to month.
â Be genuine! People can tell if the email has been sent a bunch of
times, so include a genuine compliment or personal tidbit about
the company to make your pitch stand out.
â Your entire email should be as short and concise as possibleâ3
paragraphs max, 3 sentences per paragraph.
YOUR PROPOSAL
â Whatâs in it for the brand or
company?
â Be creative, need to stand out as
brands receive daily pitches
â Professional look
â Brief and to the point
â All in one sheet

13. âHello,
I am Ericka, I want to partner with
Target on my blog. I know Iâm only
starting out, but I would be really,
really honored to work with you. I
donât have as many followers as
some people, but I have almost
1,400 followers on Instagram.
I would love to write about the
Martian toner.â
13
So far, all youâve
done is argue
against yourself.
Youâve presented
2 great points as to
why I donât really
want to work with
you.
14. âHello,
I am Ericka, Iâm a new blogger,
although I havenât partnered with
any other brands, my readers
really trust my opinion and I get
great engagement in my feed
My followers are increasing by
20% every month.â
14
If you swap those
two sentences, as a
PR person, they are
going to see you as a
new but promising
blogger instead of
just a flat-out newbie
asking me for a favor.
15. 3 Things NOT To Do When
Pitching Brands
INSTEAD OF
PITCHING A
SPECIFIC IDEA,
YOUâRE LOOKING
FOR AN
âOPPORTUNITYâ
MAKE THE
OPPORTUNITY for
yourself by pitching
an idea that wonât
be turned down.
YOUâRE SENDING
THE SAME EMAIL
TO EVERYONE
WHICH IS AKA
SPAMMING
When you send out
a pitch email, it
should be
personalized â yes,
EVERY SINGLE TIME.
YOUâRE SAYING YES
BEFORE KNOWING
THE ENTIRE SCOPE
OF WORK
Before agreeing to
anything, be sure to
not only get a
contract in place
(always, always,
always) but also get
the scope of work
written out in that
agreement as well.

16. Continuing the Partnership
If youâve had a positive experience with a brand, itâs definitely worth trying to
expand into a long-term partnership. This can be in the form of monthly
gifting or quarterly campaigns or anything in between.
The only way to secure this type of partnership after a one-off campaign is
to knock their socks off. Every post you write should be your new best blog
post and that should be extra true for sponsored content.
You may also want to provide a recap of the collaboration. Brands/agencies
loves when you provide that information as it helps justify the great work you
did for them.
16
Long-term partnerships are a bloggerâs best friend #SocialInfluenz
Donât be afraid to request a long-term contract for a long term relationship with a brand

17. 3 Key Ingredients In A
Successful Influencer Pitch
So letâs do a quick overview of the general components of what you need in
your influencer marketing pitch and influencer pitch deck or media kit:
1. Why youâd be the best for the job (donât forget to talk about your
amazing audience too).
2. What you can offer them (and why it would make sense for their brand).
3. Evidence to back it up (stats, analytics, case studies and more stats).
The bottom line is you need to make it SUPER CLEAR on why working with
you is a no-brainer. You have what it takes, you have an audience that would
love their product or service, and you have proven results. Sounds like a
match made in heaven, right?!
