2. FIA Young Driver Academy
The primary goals
To prepare young drivers
(1) to compete at the pinnacle of the sport
(2) to increase skills in the area of driver and road safety
(3) to actively promote the principles of safety, fairness and
responsibility both on and off the track.
3. FIA Young Driver Academy
The Academy has been designed in accordance with the Institute’s
best practice framework.
It will be available to candidates in both the circuit racing and rally
disciplines.
The Academy will run as trial in 2010/2011.
4. FIA Young Driver Academy
It will cost over €65,000 to service each participant whilst at the
academy, a cost that will be funded directly by the FIA Foundation
through the Motor Sport Safety Development Fund.
5. FIA Young Driver Academy
The Institute is currently selecting candidates:
70 applications have been received from more than 45 ASNs
(each ASN is able to submit up to 2 candidates).
6. FIA Young Driver Academy
20 finalists will be selected.
They will take part in a 3-day selection event in Austria in
February 2011.
7. FIA Young Driver Academy
Based on the performance of the finalists, 10 participants will be
selected and it will be these candidates that will attend the Academy in
2011.
8. FIA Young Driver Academy
The academy activities will be both theoretical and practical Focus on
driver safety, driver training and human performance.
Delivery both in and out of the classroom and using state of the art
training facilities across Europe.
