although it starts there, it does have potential to spread

Ovarian Cancer is said to be the 10th most common cancer in
women and is more likely to lead to death than any other
cancer that affects a woman's reproductive system (ranking 5 th
in cancers that kill women).
Ovarian Cancer is known as the silent killer because most
times symptoms go unnoticed and unattended too. Many
doctors are unaware of how quickly the symptoms of Ovarian
Cancer can occur. Usually the most serious symptoms occur
in the late stages of Ovarian Cancer.
Ovarian cancer is rarely diagnosed in its early stages. It is
usually quite advanced by the time diagnosis is made

It is estimated that about 3 out of 4 women survive

It is important to know the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer so
that you will be able to detect it early if possible.
If you experience the symptoms listed below daily then it is
important to go to the doctor and get a check up
Bloating, Abdominal Pain, Vaginal Bleeding, Change in
Menstrual Cycle, Pelvic Pain, Nausea/Vomiting, back pain that
increases, constipation, indigestion, swollen abdomen/belly,
decrease in appetite,increase in bathroom use, increase in hair
growth, and an increase or decrease in weight gain.

According to the American Cancer Society (2013) “ About
22,240 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer
and about 14,030 women will die from ovarian cancer”.

How is Ovarian Cancer Detected?

8. Surgery is used in all stages of Ovarian Cancer
in order to remove the uterus, both ovaries and
fallopian tubes, removal of the omentum, biopsy,
removal or examination of the lymph nodes.
Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy are also
used.
