2. Technology used in student teaching experience: Smartboard Photostory YouTube Computer Lab CD player PowerPoint
3. Smartboard: Smartboards are a wonderful piece of technology for interactive activities. I used the smartboard to get my students interactive during lessons. We played spelling games which students had to click letters to spell the words right. Their favorite was Hang Mouse.
4. photostory Photostory is a great tool to use in the classroom. I used it for fluency in my language arts class. The students read parts of the story into the microphone and I recorded. I was then able to listen and check their fluency. The students loved to do it and stayed quiet. The disadvantage was that I only had photostory on one computer and students had to take turns. It was time consuming but the students loved doing it.
7. Here is the photostory Take a listen to The Robodogs of Greenville
8. youtube Youtube is a great tool to show videos to your class. You have to be careful when searching to ensure that you get appropriate videos for your age group. I used youtube in my classroom for a social studies class. We watched a video on samba dancing because we were talking about dancing showing your culture.
9. Computer lab My school is fortunate enough to have a computer for the students to use. I took advantage of this and had my students do a culture project for social studies. They used the computer lab to collect research. To help make it easier, I found on site for each country but the students could have used a list of sites because some did not know how to search after the first site.
10. Cd player Reading can sometimes take up to much time, especially if it a longer reading. This is true in my religion class. I happen to have the Bible on CD, so we listen to Bible stories on CD. The students love it because it gives them a break and the voices on the CD make the story come to life!
11. Powerpoint PowerPoints are a great tool to use to organize information for the teacher and the students. My students loved it when I started to create PowerPoints for multiple subjects. They watch for what comes next!
12. Technology in the classroom Technology in the classroom is very useful for several reasons: Student interactions Different ways to present material (teacher and student) Assessment Multiple learning styles Etc… Technology is great only if you have it available to you to use. It has many benefits not only for the teacher but for the students as well.
