Lafcadio Hearn
• Lafcadio Hearn ( June 1850 - September 26 1904),
was a Greek-Japanese writer, translator, and teacher
who introduced the culture and literature of japan to
the west. His writings offered unprecedented insight
into Japanese culture, especially his collections of
legends and ghost stories, such as Kwaidan: Stories
and Studies of Strange Things.
• Before moving to japan and becoming a Japanese
citizen, he worked as journalist in the united states,
primarily in Cincinnati and New Orleans, his writings
about New Orleans, based on his decade-long stay
there, are also well-known.
• Who are the characters in the

2. How did the character resolve the
problem?
3. What was the moral that you've got in the
story?
4. If you were in the situation of the
daughter, would you do the same for your

GROUP ACTIVITY!
Direction: Students will be grouped into three
each group will be given a specific task.
GROUP 1- LETTER FROM THE HEART!
The students will create a short letter
addressed to their parents expressing how
grateful they are for having them.
GROUP2- SING ME A SONG!
The students will choose a song that best
interprets the message of the story and sing it
to the class.
GROUP 3- PLAY ME A ROLE!
The students will role play the scene that they
like best in the story.
