Target audience – aspirational - 16 -
25 years old
Healthy food magazine (#1) - audience aspire to make healthy meals
- recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner – using healthy ingredients
to improve or maintain a healthy lifestyle
Feel good food magazine (#2) - audience aspire to enjoy
stereotypically 'unhealthy' food such as sweet snacks, cakes,
puddings etc. - this magazine will allow them to still have these but in
a healthier way/lifestyle for example : vegan, low calories, less sugar,
natural, food supplements, alternatives
These ideas will appeal to my target audience because they are
young and aspire to stay fit and healthy – it is almost a trend in
this age group to work out and eat healthy. In 2022 currently there
is a rise in veganism in younger people for healthy and moral
reasons and it has almost become an expectation for more and
more places to cater for a variety of groups. Alternate options are
popular now.

Inspiration – Covers
• There is almost always a model featured somewhere on
the cover - people like people
• The food is either the main Image with a chef etc in the
bottom of the cover
• Or the opposite – the chef/model is the main image and
there is pictures of food framed at the bottom
7. z
Issue, date and price always in top left
corner – usually small text

Common barcodes
used
Barcode A is more commonly
seen and is can be pointing up
or sideways.
Barcode B is the other type of
code seen – more square facing
the front
Barcodes always seen along
the bottom – sized the same
and in line with other images of
food etc.

I can apply all the Codes and Conventions I have analysed to my magazine, but I am going to
specifically aim the magazine towards my target audience – 16-25 year olds in the sense of a healthy
lifestyle.
Side Note of ideas – young people in modern times often look for aesthetic looking food to post on
social media, more vegan options have started trending, its become popular to eat health, many
students will also need a helping hand in this area.

Magazine(2014 Food Issue –
Eater)
This is the August
2020 issue of a
food magazine put
out by the brand
'Your Teen' -
encouraging teens
to venture into the
kitchen more
I could also take a magazine in
this style and format and put my
own spin on it in order to target its
content and ,obviously cover,
towards younger people (16-25).

Product 2 (Website) 150 - 200 words
a) Restate (very briefly) your audience.
b) List some of the codes of conventions of existing media within your genre.
c) Explain how you intend to use, develop of challenge these conventions.
The four areas of the media theoretical framework (below each are questions that might help):
MEDIA LANGUAGE
- What ideas do you wish to convey?
- What will your product/s look like?
- How will it/they be constructed in order to convey the ideas you wish to convey?
MEDIA INDUSTRY
- How will your product be used to generate revenue?
- What is its purpose?
MEDIA REPRESENTATION
- What social groups will be presented in your productions?
- What will you say about those social groups?
- Why do you want to say this?
MEDIA AUDIENCES
- Who is the intended audience?
- What do you want them to think?
- How are you manipulating the other elements to appeal to your audience?
5th: Answer the final question, drawing together all the ways that you will make the two products reference each other.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of
your media production? (approx. 100 words)
