This document provides instructions for a Tableau assignment to analyze a dataset on US airline flights from 2010 to 2011. 1. MGMT 2080 Introduction to Information Systems Tableau 3 Assignment This Tableau file
contains information on all U.S. airline flights from 2010 and 2011. Create a Tableau worksheet
to answer each of the following questions. Use the Insert / Screen Clipping option in Word to
insert an image of your viz beneath each question. You will submit this completed Word doc
along with your Tableau file. FILE to use: Flightspata.twbx 1. You want to know about cities
that experience flight cancellations most frequently. Which five cities have the most flight
cancellations in this data? 2. You are interested in identifying days that are particularly light in
terms of travel each year. Which holidays experience substantially lower numbers of flights than
other days? 3. You would also like to know which states tend to experience the longest departure
delays. Create a map that visualizes the departure delay that you can expect in each origin state
(make sure you think about the appropriate measure). Allow the user to filter by airline. Colors
should range from dark blue for states with short departure delays to dark red for states with long
departure delays. 4. A quick viz of flights over time shows a drop of more than 300,000 flights
from 2010 to 2011: From your experience, you know that flight activity did not drop so
significantly between 2010 and 2011. Investigate flights over time in more detail to determine
why these yearly numbers show such a large drop. Create a viz to show why 2011 appears to
drop significantly.
