MOBILITY COUNSELLING SEMINARS
IN COOPERATION WITH EUROPASS CENTER
• Target group: Guidance practitioners working in education, training
and employment areas and secondary school students
The Aims of the seminars:
• for guidance counsellors
– raise awareness about counseling for mobility reasons, (ex.
special tools, techniques, questionnaires, mobility networks,
European Programmes, etc.)
– transfer knowledge from European experts from Euroguidance
network or others that have been working on this specific area
and gained valuable experience.
• for students
– to face the opportunities within mobility
– listen to people’s stories and be aware on how one should get
prepared and what he/she should have in mind for a mobility
experience.

MOBILITY HANDBOOK FOR GUIDANCE PRACTITIONERS
The aim of the handbook :
• Το enrich counselor's knowledge on mobility issues.
• To support them during the counseling procedure by providing to them
tools and relevant material.
The structure of the booklet:
Α. Introduction to the meaning and the different aspects of mobility as a
EU priority and the role of Guidance Counceling
B. Theoretical part: Μain theoretical principles and a suggested model for
mobility counseling.
C. Practical part:
1. A self – evaluation questionnaire for the councelors to “measure” their
abilities in different aspects of mobility counceling
2. A package of tools and activities on mobility issues
3. A list of links, networks and programs that support Mobility.
4. A DVD 10 mobility stories
FEEDBACK FROM THE MOBILITY STORIES
ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION WITH YOUR CLIENTS
 The impact of mobility experiences in the development of
competences and the self confidence and self awareness
 The value of the employers give to candidates with mobility
experiences
 How can young people include their mobility experience in their
general career plan.
 How can people use their mobility experience to “survive” the
economical and social crisis
 How can mobility experiences can “change” beliefs, values and
stereotypes

 If you work abroad you can prove that you are able to travel
 The employer will think that since you have worked and lived abroad
you flexible and cope with different circumstances
 When you live alone you have to be more responsible, since you
don’t have your parents to help you
 Living abroad make you more mature
 When I face difficulties with the language I use the “body language”
 My job is not more difficult because I am woman. When I need help I
just ask for it.
 Mobility for young people is an unique experience
 Except of knowledge the most important advantage is that you get to
know a different culture

OVERVIEW OF THE PRESENTATION • Presentation of Mobility Counselling Material (Handbook and DVD) for Guidance Counselors produced by Euroguidance Center of Greece • Mobility issues for the counselor to deal with his clients • Activities for the professionals to use during the counseling procedure • Discussion and questions on mobility counseling issues
  • 3. MOBILITY COUNSELLING SEMINARS IN COOPERATION WITH EUROPASS CENTER • Target group: Guidance practitioners working in education, training and employment areas and secondary school students The Aims of the seminars: • for guidance counsellors – raise awareness about counseling for mobility reasons, (ex. special tools, techniques, questionnaires, mobility networks, European Programmes, etc.) – transfer knowledge from European experts from Euroguidance network or others that have been working on this specific area and gained valuable experience. • for students – to face the opportunities within mobility – listen to people’s stories and be aware on how one should get prepared and what he/she should have in mind for a mobility experience.

MOBILITY COUNSELLING SEMINARS Greece 2012 & Cyprus 2013 • Presentations about mobility networks and programmes mobility networks the analysis of the mobility process and the consequences for guidance before, during and after a stay abroad a model for guidance during the mobility process. • Main Speakers: Graziana Boscato and Josef Vanraepenbusch, members of the Mobility WG, covered themes such as The mobility advice process for the guidance counselor Analysis of the mobility and the consequences for guidance Studying abroad: higher education systems in Europe Different kind of mobility: stages/internships, jobs, volunteering... Social media and guidance: wiki, Facebook, etc. Networks, international organizations, links, etc.
  • 6. MOBILITY COUNSELLING MATERIAL HANDBOOKS & VIDEOS 1. a 50-pages handbook including theoretical scientific supporting material and mobility activities for guidance practitioners 2. a booklet for students and unemployed people including mobility activities, questionnaires, self – assessment checklists, useful mobility information. 3. a DVD including 10 Mobility Stories Videos translated in Greek Based on: 1. “Mobility advice interview” booklet produced by the Euroguidance Mobility WG (EG Belgium: Dominique Lorent, Josef Vanraepenbusch, EG France & ONISEP Graziana Boscato, Elisabeth Gros, Claudine Roux, EG Luxenburg Jos Noesen, Karin Mayer,Stephan Hawlizky, EG Romania Μichai Jigau 2. CIMO (EG Finland) Mobility Guide 3. ONISEP’s Mobility Videos produced within the project “Mobility for all”

MOBILITY HANDBOOK FOR GUIDANCE PRACTITIONERS The aim of the handbook : • Το enrich counselor's knowledge on mobility issues. • To support them during the counseling procedure by providing to them tools and relevant material. The structure of the booklet: Α. Introduction to the meaning and the different aspects of mobility as a EU priority and the role of Guidance Counceling B. Theoretical part: Μain theoretical principles and a suggested model for mobility counseling. C. Practical part: 1. A self – evaluation questionnaire for the councelors to “measure” their abilities in different aspects of mobility counceling 2. A package of tools and activities on mobility issues 3. A list of links, networks and programs that support Mobility. 4. A DVD 10 mobility stories
  • 8. FEEDBACK FROM THE MOBILITY STORIES ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION WITH YOUR CLIENTS  The impact of mobility experiences in the development of competences and the self confidence and self awareness  The value of the employers give to candidates with mobility experiences  How can young people include their mobility experience in their general career plan.  How can people use their mobility experience to “survive” the economical and social crisis  How can mobility experiences can “change” beliefs, values and stereotypes

FEEDBACK FROM LETICIA’S STORY  Motorbike mechanic  If you work abroad you can prove that you are able to travel  The employer will think that since you have worked and lived abroad you flexible and cope with different circumstances  When you live alone you have to be more responsible, since you don’t have your parents to help you  Living abroad make you more mature  When I face difficulties with the language I use the “body language”  My job is not more difficult because I am woman. When I need help I just ask for it.  Mobility for young people is an unique experience  Except of knowledge the most important advantage is that you get to know a different culture
