3. How Light is Light?
Our Light-Swept Technique
Inspired by balayage, a French technique that means
“to sweep,” Lightlab mimics the way hair naturally
lightens with the sun. Just one application can lighten
hair up to three levels.

Progressive Lightening
Lightlab is also progressive—hair will become lighter with each
application, unless the client likes it as-is.
For example, a Level 6 (Light Brown) can be lifted to a Level 8 (Medium Blonde) or 9 (Light Blonde).

Hair
has a natural undertone
that becomes exposed
with lightening. Brunettes,
for example, tend to fade red,
while blondes will
lift to yellow.
Toner adds
pigment back to hair after
it’s been lightened, to
balance or neutralize the
exposed undertone.
