2. INTRODUCTION
ď˘ Experienced pharmaceutical researcher Erol Onel, MD,
has substantial experience in fields such as reproductive
medicine and oncology. An alumnus of the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine and Williams College, he
serves as a vice president of Heron Therapeutics, Inc.,
in California. A committed philanthropist, Dr. Erol Onel
donates to medical nonprofits like the American Heart
Association (AHA).
A recent study found in Stroke, a peer-reviewed journal
of the AHA, reveals that patients who are trying to
recover from strokes can benefit from horseback riding
therapy, as well as rhythm-based and music treatments.
3. HORSEBACK AND MUSIC THERAPY
ď˘ While many of these types of activities are often
implemented as part of a recovery regimen,
researchers found that this particular combination
of therapies used in concert with one another
provides additional benefits above and beyond
single-treatment modalities.
Study author Michael Nilsson, MD, PhD, indicated
that people who have experienced stroke, even
some time ago, can make substantial progress in
their recovery via these types of therapies, which
promote brain and motor activity.
