Like our fellow Belgians, we believe that
coffee is one of the simplest pleasures in

the art of great-tasting coffee has been in
our genes since 1863. We were among the
first to trade roasted coffee in Europe.

OUR STORY GOES BAC
MORE THAN 150 YEARS.
In 1863, Joseph van Leckwyck and his
sons established a roastery in Antwerp
under the name Continentale Maatschappij
voor het Branden van Koffie (Continental
Society for Coffee Roasting).
They learnt the art of roasting. Under our
original brand name Roode Pelikaan they
created quality yet affordable coffee.
The traders-turned-roasters single
-handedly determined the course of the
coffee industry in Belgium. And beyond.

Today our brand is still synonymous
with a passion for great-tasting coffee.

Coffee roasting is where craft and science
converge. It requires a precise combination
of temperature, time and air-flow.
Plus different degrees of roasting to release
the individual flavour characteristics.
Our state-of-the-art roastery is designed to
be flexible. This allows our expert craftsmen
to slow-roast beans at lower temperatures.
And create new flavours to respond
to our ever-changing market.
