Standard 16.0
 Standard 16.0: Give pertinent information
about functions, find domain and range, and
determine if a relation is a function.
 Students will be able to show mastery on
standard 16.0 by mastering 3 out of the 4 on
their you try practice.
 They will also have to score 7 out of 8 on their
quiz.
 Domain:The domain of a relation of the first
coordinates
 Range:The range of a relation is the set of
second coordinates
 Function:A relation that assigns to each
member of its domain exactly one number of
its range.
 Example of domain (5,1),(2,6),(3,7) the red is
the domain.
 Example of range (3,5),(5,7)(6,4) the red is the
range.
 Example of function (5,1),(2,6),(3,7) this is a
function because the domain which is the red
numbers they do not reply.
 Try the vertical line test and if the lines cross
the x-axis more then once then the relation is
not a function
 Ex1: Is this relation a function (5,6),(7,2),(5,3)
no this is not a function because the domain
repeats.
 Ex2: Is this relation a function (3,1),(2,1),(4,4)
yes this is a function because the domain
doesn’t repeat.
 Is this relation a function (0,6),(1,6),(2,6),(3,6)
 Is this relation a function (0,3),(1,3),(0,5),(2,6)
 Is this relation a function (5,6),(3,6),(5,0),(4,7)
 Is this graph a function
 Is this relation a function? (3,2)(3,4)(1,4)(6,7)
 Is this relation a function? (4,2)(5,3)(1,5)(4,9)
 Is this relation a function? (7,1)(-3,4)(4,3)(-3,1)
 Is this relation a function? (4,2)(4,8)(4,9)(4,3)

 First am going to let her copy the notes,
objective, and standard (7 minutes) then am
going to explain what she has to demonstrate
mastery and then ask her if she has any
questions.
 After the lecture notes am going to explain
my examples that I created and then at the
end ask her if she has any questions. (5min)
 Then am going to let her do the you try for
(5min)
 Then am going to go over it (3min)
 Then I’m done teaching and she’s just going
to do individual practice and the quiz.
