Hinweis der Redaktion
Our industry has a knack for in creating buzz words and terminology in order to tangiblize the abstract, and to create hype around product offerings. Ultimately, this is good as word definition of meaning is how we communicate. (Repeat Constellation Definition)
The driver for digital transformation stems from the fact that since 2000, 52 percent of companies in the Fortune 500 have either gone bankrupt, been acquired or ceased to exist.
Regulatory Compliance- Cost reduction of regulatory and security compliance. Costs have skyrocketed with all the breaches and regulation. We have seen creation of shared services among competitors to address regulatory requirements and common core processes
Cost and Operational Efficiency- Mass Automation and efficiency in post-merger integration (more people will be judged on these)
Revenue & Growth- Readiness for inorganic growth & investing in Financial Talent
Strategic Differentiation- shift to insights model which is where big data comes in, and rapidly responding to non-traditional competitors (think Air BnB and Marriot/Hyatt0
Brand- Customer Experience and Digital presence
Reducing Costs: The average organization spends an astonishing 63% running day-to-day operations and just 16% of its IT budget supporting business transformation
We talk in terms of ‘Compelling Events’ with our clients. Compelling Events happen more often, more rapidly, and with greater magnitude than ever before.
Of course, we all know the world has changed
We all know that internet devices, data, mobility, and consumer influence are growing
The question is, what can you do about it?
However 1St generation SaaS were and are still focused on the cloud provider
In first generation , your upgrades are based on someone else’s schedule ( the provider’s not yours)
"1st Gen clouds will go to great lengths to sell the merits of sharing everything. Shared database, shared infrastructure, shared computing resources. It really benefits the SaaS provider more than it benefits you the customer. For small businesses and startups, same old 1ST generation SaaS for everyone can work just fine for a while.. However, here is a little secret 1st generation cloud providers would rather you did not know – it is shared because it makes it easy for them and they really have limits on what they can provide you because they are running on decade old technology. The pioneer of multi-tenancy: salesforce.com just made an announcement for customers who do not want a intermingled, shared platform its called the superpod. Did you hear about it. Yes for a $50m commitment you can have your own cloud.
So if a non shared cloud is critical to some of their largest customers perhaps sharing everything is not necessarily good for every type of customer. Oracle offers a customer centric approach, the next generation cloud (which I will talk about later in this ppt.)
But, customers are discovering the challenges of 1st generation cloud applications.
There is an Inability To Share Information Across departments
Customer Interactions
Their Employees
Business Processes
And IT has its own set of challenges in a SaaS world. IT organizations are having to respond very quickly to line of business needs and are still very responsible to deliver reliable, secure and compliant services that secure data and fit well within the standards of the enterprise.
Oracle’s modern cloud lets you personalize applications to fit your business.
You can tailor Oracle’s cloud applications to match your corporate and local business practices as well as different brands; mold the system by country, by organization or for your entire enterprise.
Everything is performed within the application itself with no technical tools or programming required.
Employees are able to personalize their user experience, including personalizing dashboards, configuring screens, modifying workflows, and capturing every piece of data unique to their organization
If you need to extend functionality beyond configuration changes, you can use standards-based development tools with Oracle Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to build custom apps
Personalization also includes the ability to choose when software updates occur, and all configuration changes are update safe
With Oracle’s integrated cloud, you’re able to connect your entire business.
Connect data, processes, analytics and people
Unified user experience improves employee productivity
Unlike niche SaaS applications, Oracle’s cloud applications are easily integrated with other cloud, on premise or 3rd party applications using standards-based tools (web services, BPEL)
To import/export data, Oracle offers robust data integration for comprehensive reporting and analysis
You can easily add or change service providers (i.e. ADP, WorkForce Software, PDI Ninth House, Vertex, ML Benefits)
A Complete suite of cloud applications for connected business process
Cloud adaptors connect cloud applications with on premise apps and even non-Oracle cloud apps (i.e. Salesforce )
Social ,mobile, and analytics connected on a common platform
In the next video , you will see how a modern interconnected business, connected in the cloud across, ERP, HCM, CX with social mobile and BI can get problems solved very quickly. And how outcomes from solving business problems quickly and accurately can even impact personal lives
<<<< Play video Cross Pillar Cloud Video (A day in the Life of Bob the CEO)>>>>>
Finally, Oracle’s security and compliance practices have more depth than niche cloud providers in its?
Local data residency: Oracle operates 19 datacenters around the world- this helps ensure compliance with localized requirements for organizations that have employees around the world
Oracle Cloud provides enterprise grade security solutions from a viable software partner
Best in class, industry based compliance certifications to support regulatory and data privacy requirements and updates to support today’s modern business needs
Unified access controls : your data is protected when employees join or leave your company
Isolated data tenancy: unlike our competitors, you can rest assured we don’t co-mingle customer data and we don’t force our customers to assume the shared risk that comes with first generation clouds
Oracle’s cloud applications share the same hardware but never the same database
So how does Oracle differ from 1st generation cloud providers in its Modern Cloud security and compliance practices?
Proven, viable enterprise software partner for 35yrs, fully invested in cloud and expertise
19 7x24 global data centers ( and growing ) for localized data residency and compliance requirements ( a very large global footprint to meet data residency requirements)
Dedicated Oracle-badged cloud security experts – highly trained and focused on Oracle technologies in the cloud – not outsourced contractors
Complete customer data isolation: your data is never mingled with other data and is backed up in isolation. Oracle is able to performance tune system specifically to your dataset
and security at multiple tech layers for maximum security, control, and visibility
Leader in cloud security products and expert in managing public and hybrid cloud environments
99.5% uptime guaranteed
Unsurpassed Global & Regional Coverage
19 State of the Art Facilities and growing
Baseline 99.999% Availability of Power/Cooling
24X7 Active Monitoring and Support
… This program is called Customer 2 Cloud. This program (pathway) can benefit you in three ways on your journey to the cloud: there are 1) financial incentives to move your existing on premises licenses to the Oracle ERP Cloud, 2) we can help you with rapid startup into the Oracle ERP Cloud and 3) we also offer standards-based cloud integrations. That is, if you want to keep some on-premise seats and connect to the Oracle ERP Cloud as well.
So in a Modern Cloud from Oracle - you get all the benefits of 1St generation SaaS and beyond….. Taking you into the next generation of cloud computing,
the LOB gets the value it wants
and IT gets an interoperable portfolio with a focus on securing data and the highest delivery standards it needs
In this next video – you can see how customers are benefiting from Oracle complete portfolio and how these services make a difference for them
<<<< Play co-existence video>>>
At Oracle, we build our technology so that it’s designed to work together from the start.
Oracle’s portfolio is the broadest in the business. That gives us a unique ability to offer customers a complete hardware and software stack—from applications through middleware and databases, and all the way down into servers and storage. We offer all of this on premises or in the cloud.
Each of the layers—and all the products within the layers—have been designed and engineered to work together according to open standards.
And because we design it to work together, we’re able to optimize performance.
This complete approach lets us build greater reliability and security than you can achieve on your own with parts from different vendors.
And because we have management tools that run through every layer, it’s also much easier to manage the stack and upgrade it over time.
The net result is that our customers spend a lot less time and money on routine tasks, and a lot more on strategic projects.
On this slide – you can see the cost savings that can be realized from moving from On-Premises to the Oracle Cloud. Over 3 years the savings can be ~4X your current support.
[For additional Cloud slides, please download the Oracle Cloud Strategy presentation, http://my.oracle.com/site/ibu/portal/cloud/cnt1659919.pptx.]
Oracle is a clear cloud leader – we are now the #2 provider of Software-as-a-Service provider in the world. We have 62 million active users a day, 23 billion transactions a day, and 19 global data centers around the world.

Continue to re-iterate that we are taking a thoughtful and complete approach to platform service so that the various services work together completely seamlessly for a great experience for developers and business users
Broad platform offering – use as modules, pieces work together
Built on industry standards – SQL, Java, HTML5, Web
Transparently run in the cloud – zero application code changes
Self-service control for users – develop, deploy, manage
Complete data isolation and flexible upgrades
Service-Oriented Architecture – on-premise integration
Slide Transition: Our complete line of enterprise applications solutions now also includes our complete portfolio of Application Cloud Services and Platforms. We’re investing in a new generation of application cloud services so that our customers can find the easiest path to access next generation technologies quickly and cost–effectively, with less risk. Customers can use their existing on-premise support spend to adopt Oracle Customer Experience Cloud and Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud services within the same product family. For example, a customer with on-premise seats for Oracle Siebel eService can quickly and easily transfer those seats to Oracle Marketing Cloud subscriptions.
Rapid Start Up: organizations can leverage Oracle Cloud Express rapid startup services to help overcome integration hurdles and accelerate cloud adoption.
Packaged integrations between the most popular on-premise and cloud applications, Oracle customers also have the flexibility to shift to a hybrid model where on-premise and cloud applications work together for greater efficiency.
With Oracle, you get a complete, integrated cloud that gives your business what it needs and minimizes IT integration efforts.
Oracle offers cloud applications for every business function: customer experience, human capital management, ERP, marketing, sales—the list goes on—with modern, easy-to-use interfaces.
We recently announced data as a service. Think of it as a data aggregator like NASDAQ. Data from a whole range of sources flows through the service—sources like social feeds, transactions, B2B, and e-commerce sites. You can feed that data into whatever applications you want. That’s a powerful way to find out what customers are doing and improve your targeting.
We offer platform as a service that includes the world’s #1 database; Java, the world’s #1 programming language; analytics; and more.
And we offer infrastructure as a service—virtualization, servers, storage—that is price-competitive with Amazon, Microsoft, Rackspace, and others.
You can get all of this delivered however you want. You can get it through the public cloud. You can have your own private or managed cloud, or you can use a hybrid model.
