2. You got your beautiful baby
running and now you want to
keep it running for as long as it
will last.
3. How to Maintain
Your Muscle Car
Air-Fuel Ratio
Start your car and warm the
engine to normal operating
temperature. Remove a manifold
vacuum hose and see what
happens. If the engine speeds up,
your carburetor is rich. If it stalls,
your carburetor is lean. Make the
appropriate adjustments.
Take Her for a Spin
It does your car good to hit highway
speeds every now and then, so do
not be afraid to take her out. High
RPMs circulate oil through your
engine and clean the carburetor.
Sitting for too long will also cause
gaskets to dry out.
4. How to Maintain
Your Muscle Car
Belts & Gaskets
Inspect all the rubber parts of your
car- especially in the engine. If the
belts, O-rings, and gaskets dry out,
they will crack and leak. Even
small leaks can have adverse
effects on engine performance, in
addition to making a mess.
Gas
When your car sits for long periods
of time, the gas can break down. Old
gas will clog your fuel lines and
carburetor. If you drain the tank and
leave it empty, you risk rusting the
interior. Instead, use a fuel stabilizer
which will keep the gas from
breaking down for as long as a year.
