management. You will be provided the knowledge and tools to improve your effectiveness and
profitability as an event manager.
Learn to:
• Structure and manage an event planning schedule to improve overall performance
• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and feasibility studies
• Identify and prioritize event goals and objectives
• Identify potential challenges to a successful event
Event Coordination
Learn the nuts and bolts of successfully coordinating an event. You’ll capture the skills to create
a top-flight event, including show stopping décor and entertainment. Get the skills essential to
success, including site inspections, plans and ADA requirements and permits.
Learn to:
• Develop creative elements including décor and entertainment, and properly sequence them at
events
• Design and implement a site plan and conduct a thorough site inspection
• Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), permit requirements, labor union issues
and their impact on event coordination
Event Marketing
Discover how to use events to promote products, services and causes, as well as how to
promote events themselves. You’ll acquire the skills— from initial research to a comprehensive
marketing plan — to make every event the talk of your association.
Learn to:
• Identify and develop a promotional strategy, including a proposal, invitations, advertising,
publicity, contests, promotional merchandise, sales promotions, packaging, and even personal
appearances
• Distinguish the relative strengths of print, electronic and other advertising mediums
• Analyze, establish and implement a public relations strategy using video and audio press
releases, as well as many other new tools
Risk Management:
Financial, Legal and
Ethical Safeguards
Find out a process for analyzing and responding to risks that can adversely impact any event.
Obtain a practical approach with particular emphasis placed on contract issues, laws and
regulations to ensure you understand and use every possible safeguard to produce safe and
successful events.
Learn to:
• Conduct a thorough risk assessment and develop an appropriate risk management plan for
every event
• Identify the key laws and regulations that impact events
• Understand the key components of event contracts
