Local Food Alliance Educates About Food Drive Necessities
In an effort to increase awareness about food insecurity in the Greater High Point Area
High Point, N.C. (July 15, 2015) --- The Greater High Point Food Alliance (GHP
Food Alliance) is dedicated to ending area food insecurity by educating the entire
community on the necessities to operate and promote a successful food drive. The GHP
Food Alliance’s food drive tool kit will show what food items are needed most. The kit
will include a list of the critically needed items for infants, children, adults with dietary
and/or cultural food restrictions, and seniors. The GHP Food Alliance is educating the
Burns Hill, Washington Street, and West End community members willing to volunteer
about what is needed in a food drive. It is essential for the GHP Food Alliance to spread
awareness of food insecurity to gain community reinforcement to support their mission.
The GHP Food Alliance is fighting the community hunger crisis to ensure that no
person in High Point lacks nutrition security, which is defined as adequate nutritional
status in terms of protein, energy, vitamins, and minerals for all household members at all
times, by tackling the 3 pillars of food insecurity: food availability, food access, and food
use. To overcome these obstacles, the GHP Food Alliance must gain volunteers dedicated
to fighting the same cause.
The GHP Food Alliance will provide numerous opportunities for people in the
community to learn about food and nutrition insecurity. The numerous events hosted by

the GHP Food Alliance will increase participation from volunteers and also greater the
impact of relieving hunger in High Point.
The Greater High Point Food Alliance is a group of local volunteers focused on utilizing
current community and nonprofit assets to address the hunger crisis in the Greater High
Point area, while developing strategies and community partnerships to end it. The
Alliance will work to empower, unify and sustain the community.
