2: Conduct during rehearsals - Did this person behave in a positive and
focused way during rehearsals? Assess their contribution to the success of
the rehearsal. Please be as specific as possible.
Ellie always walks into the rehearsal space in a professional manor, with her attitude
constantly reiterating to her company members how she wishes to improve her
performance capability. Within this specific workshop she focused on her song
‘Summer Nights’, with Ellie playing Sandy (one half of the duet) there is a lot of
pressure on her to multiply the energy in the song and portray this innocence that
should be shown through Sandy, whilst also sounding great. Ellie doesn’t struggle
regarding singing ability as she knows every technique in the book, her articulation
with the lyrics is near perfect and her smart use of breath control gives her the ability
to hold long high notes whilst remaining in key, she also sings in character having a
high voice in an American accent, this instantly helps her characterisation by singing
in such an innocent voice. In this workshop Ellie also helped her other company

members specifically a girl playing Sandy in the end song ‘You’re the one that I want’,
she stated to this company member how to sing more seductively, slowing down a
lyrics a tad and not having such a high pitched voice, this advice helped the girl
playing Sandy immediately. However after stating all of this I must mention that Ellie
needs to focus regarding Characterisation outside of song, retaining that high pitched
voice and also portraying Sandy even more naive throughout.
3: Performer response – will you make any changes to your working
practises following this observation? Be specific.
In response to this peer observation, I will maintain the positive attitude towards
rehearsals. I will take into consideration that my characterisation needs to be held
throughout after the songs. I will achieve this target by recording rehearsals and
watching them. This will help me see my improvements but also highlight problems
for me to work on.
