Stray is a game focused on the life of an injured cat
who finds a long-forgotten city and must find out
the mysteries hidden there. It’s a third-person
adventure game set in a very neon-like world. The
gameplay looks very futuristic with robots that
seem to inhabit this strange city. The lighting seems
very dark and uninviting, the surrounding area
seeming very messy and unclean. The camera angle
always appears to be behind the character. Each
location that is shown is extremely detailed which
keeps the player engaged and wanting to explore
more of the area around them. People might want
to buy this game simply because the main character
is a cat which can appeal to more people. The
futuristic environment makes for interesting
gameplay and makes the player want to know
more.

Catlateral Damage (2020)
Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered (2021)
Catlateral Damage is a first-person
game where your objective is to knock
as many items as possible onto the
floor while playing as a cat. The overall
design of the game is simple and
cartoony but considering the
gameplay, it fits perfectly. The location
the game is set in is a very calm
environment. There’s nothing overly
fancy about the graphics but this game
doesn’t need it. The colours are a mix
of darker and lighter tones, the items
being the most colourful. If the
audience likes the characters and
some chaos, then this is probably the
game for them.

Night in the Woods (2017)
Night in the woods is a single-player
adventure and story game about a cat
called Mae. The game shifts between
day and night and the style is clean and
smooth. It's set in a small town called
Possum Springs and the colours are
mostly bright than dark, although the
game switches between a day and night
setting. The camera looks straight at the
character in front of us. This game can
go through some deep topics but that
can be why a lot of people are drawn to
such games. It allows them to feel like
they relate to the character which can
ultimately make it more appealing to
the audience.
5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products
have?
• All the products I researched have animals in them as
the main characters, specifically cats.
• What aspects of the research will you include within
your own work?
• I can look back at characters and the styles of the
games to help me when I make my own. Thinking
about the story and how the gameplay plays out can
also prove to be useful when I need to think of ideas.
