Before we start with our new lesson, let’s play a game..
Are you familiar with the game, four pics one word? Where four pictures will be shown and you will guess the correct word by using the jumbled letters given.
I need 1 representative per group. You will all stand facing the opposite direction, and at my signal, you will turn your backs all at once, and solve the puzzle. The first one who will get the correct answer will get chips for your group to enjoy.
Are you ready? Go!
To Start off our 2nd quarter physical education lesson, we will discuss three chosen DUAL SPORTS. One of these three is BADMINTON.
But before we start, WHAT IS A DUAL SPORT?
It is played by two people striving against one another competing against an opponent with the ultimate goal to win.
These include but not limited to: Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Martial Arts/Combative Sports etc.
The aim of the game is to score points by landing the shuttlecock in the opponent’s court.
Matches for Badminton include singles, doubles and mixed doubles
for a right-handed player, the forehand side is their right side and the backhand side is their left side. Forehand strokes are hit with the front of the hand leading (like hitting with the palm),
There are ONLY 3 types of shots:
Clearing (or Lobbing)
Drop Shots
Smash
Use lobs and drops to weaken your opponent’s footwork and then dominate the game! When you’re putting constant pressure your opponent, you can easily win a point.
(like hitting with the knuckles). Players frequently play certain strokes on the forehand side with a backhand hitting action, and vice versa
