The document discusses health appraisal procedures which are a series of assessments to determine a student's health status. It describes several screening tests that are part of health appraisals including medical exams, dental exams, height and weight checks, vision tests, scoliosis tests, breast self-exams, and hearing tests. The Snellen chart is the commonly used, least expensive, and easiest to perform; and a remarkably high degree of success in identifying students having vision problems using this procedure.
Scoliosis is a familiar problem during the rapid growth in the late childhood to early teenage years
Scoliosis screening will identify students who have spinal irregularities that would worsen body’s movement and stamina and most likely lead to back pains and other body part
Early detection and intervention may avert scoliosis from developing into conditions that may impede comfortable movements or activities.
