 The challenge is in learning to differentiate between data, information and knowledge.
 Today, the various data-, information- and knowledge fields are totally decoupled within the enterprise
(island solutions and weak knowledge structures)
 Often the IT department is only responsible for set up and maintenance of the data- and information page.
 Personnel development is in charge of the R&D department. (In SMUs management plays a stronger role).
 The result of such a separation is a lack of coordination of the various areas.
Employees should have the opportunity to access existing information resources in a targeted way in
order to incorporate the lessons learned from everyday life into their decisions.
