The WEEE TRACE project aims to ensure full traceability of WEEE flows managed by ECOLEC using advanced ICT technologies like RFID. The goals are to reduce leaks, increase legally treated volumes, recover more materials, and ensure proper recycling. ECOLEC will implement the traceability solution across its 80 collection points, 15 logistics operators, and 40 treatment plants in Spain. The 36-month project also involves partners in technology, manufacturing, logistics, and treatment to pilot and demonstrate the system. Expected benefits include increased materials recovery, proper treatment, CO2 reductions, and cost savings.
