7. What is Galileo?
7
• Will provide Europe a fully autonomous satellite-based
positioning, navigation and timing capability , for global
high performance services.
• Is run by civil authorities.
• By offering dual frequencies as standard, Galileo will
deliver real-time positioning with metre accuracy.
• Galileo will be interoperable with other GNSS, notably
with the US GPS, which means that a user will be able to
take a position with the same receiver from any of the
satellites in any combination.
Galileo (European Global Navigation Satellite System)
8. What is EGNOS?
= European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service
• Europe's first concrete venture into satellite navigation.
• Uses geostationary satellites and a network of ground stations to
receive, analyse and augment GPS signals (in the future also Galileo).
• Makes existing GNSS signals suitable for safety critical applications.
• Increases the accuracy of existing satellite positioning signals while
providing a crucial ‘integrity message', informing users in the event of
problems.
9. User market driven approach

Innovation is not only understood as new breakthrough technologies.
It also includes the use of existing technologies in novel applications, continuous
improvement, non technological and social innovation.
"The best way to predict the future is to create it."

There are many applications of EGNSS
We are using GNSS in different aspects of our lives (for example surveying, road navigation, name segments)
1-all market segments, broad topic
2-coordinator has to be SNE, mainly focused on consumer application (not only)
Indicative budget
WP 2017 is providing more details (describtion) conserning the applications we are looking for.
There is no condition of SME coordinator in 2017.
Eligible costs are described in details in annexes.
