4. Fire Explosion Smoke
PROBLEMS WE
SOLVE
An explosive environment is one in which a
harmful chemical or materials (gas, mist, dust, or
vapour) are mixed with the air and have the
capacity to burst into flames or explode.
Although an explosive environment does not
necessarily result in an explosion, if it does catch
fire, the flames spread swiftly. If this occurs in a
confined location (for example, a factory), the
quick spread of the fire or rise in pressure may
result in an explosion.
5. OUR SOLUTION -
FIREFLEX OVERVIEW
Fireflex is a versatile fire-resistant material that can be
manufactured in thin flexible rolls and sheets from
0.04mm thick to Rigid Gasket boards up to 19mm thick.
Designed to complement our existing range of pretested
and pre-approved seals and our firefill range of
Intumescent Sealing solutions which have already had
remarkable success in the EV, Hazardous area and
Lighting Industries.
Following the Grenfell Tower Fire EMI Seals started
designing and developing a new lightweight range of Fire
barrier materials for the construction industry which we
called Fireflex.
6. WHICH INDUSTRY IS
FIREFLEX FOR?
Fireflex provides highly effective passive fire protection for a
broad range of applications including Construction, Mass
Transport, Defence, Hazardous Area, EV and Battery Storage
applications.
In our work with both Commercial and Defence Companies,
including Battery and Power pack companies, Electric Vehicle
manufacturers and other industries we became acutely aware of
the greater safety potential that Fireflex could offer.
7. PRODUCT FEATURES -
FIREFLEX
Simple, lightweight fire-resistant material
A more environmentally friendly solution
Cost-effective safety product
Protects from the dangers of thermal issues
Fireflex can be configured with fibre reinforcements
and can also be coated to aid shielding
Initial tests against ISO 1185 confirmed Fireflex easily
satisfied A1 and A2
8. FIREFLEX - ISO1185 TEST RESULTS
No flames were evident, indicating that the material is incombustible.
Weight loss was negligible, inferring that all the material continues
to function as a fire barrier.
Results from both material types were virtually identical, which
would offer a degree of cost advantage for situations where just
one XXXXXXXXXXXXXX layer sufficed.
Not only do these barrier materials themselves produce no smoke
but they could clearly function to shield any smoke produced on
one side of them.
The fire temperature resistance of the Initial materials was 800-
850°C, however we have already reformulated this and the new
material can now withstand 1200°C.
