18 partners with a total of around sixty professionals from 8 Universities, 3
Quality Agencies, 4 Research centres and 3 Technology companies.

Considerations about (e)learning
The teaching and learning process is conducted (totally or partially) through the net
Using ICT tools and resources (didactic materials, wikis, blogs, communications tools,
etc)
New (or not so new) syllabus components: Learning outcomes, methodology, activities
and assessment models
Teacher role’s: guide, facilitator, content provider (¿?), evaluator.
Learner: self-autonomous learner, ICT user (and active searcher).
Variety of LMS: Moddle, Blackboard, own university online campuses
Big amount of data to be analysed for improving education quality

The e-assessment process as a cornestone in HE
The education has evolved with ICT but NOT e-assessment processes
We believe that ICT can make the educational system more reliable and
credible

Unsolved: Authentication and Authorship
Main objective
To define and develop an e-assessment system, which ensures learners
authentication and authorship in online and blended learning environments while
avoiding the time and physical space limitations imposed by face-to-face examination.
The TeSLA project will cover teaching and learning processes as well as ethical,
legal and technological aspects.
Some specific objectives
Analyse and design the most appropriate learning activities for e-assessment.
Introduce tools and resources in the learning activities that capture learners’ data.
Conduct several pilots of the TeSLA e-assessment system for ensuring the
authentication and authorship of the learners during the e-assessment processes.
Provide a core version of the TeSLA e-assessment system free of charge for
educational institutions, and a professional and commercial version.
Hold a set of training workshops for teachers for enhancing e-assessment processes.

academic fraud and plagiarism with digital and
timestamp certificates.
Support for new innovative and distributed
learning methodologies.
Technology agnostic solution. TeSLA works
standalone or with any LMS that supports LTI
standards.
TeSLA will assure and guarantee the quality of e-
assessment processes following the European
Standard guidelines defined by Quality Agencies
Better support for people with disabilities. It is not
required anymore to travel to an examination
center.
Best in class experience for students and
professors. Without major interference, students
can now complete all their learning activities.

14,000 students from all over Europe,
respecting social and cultural differences,
guaranteeing equal opportunities and providing
an inclusive solution

How the TeSLA system works
The institutions connect or integrate TeSLA within
their existing learning environments; there are
both LMS plug-ins and standard LTI connectors
available.
Professor creates an assessable learning activity;
then he/she decides what level of assurance and
security (which instruments) to include for this
specific assessment.
It is also planned that TeSLA can run stand-
alone without any LMS integration

TeSLA project: an adaptive trust-based e-assessment system for learning

Features of the call and budget Horizon2020 – ICT 20 (Information and Communication Technologies) Topic: Technologies for better human learning and teaching Type: Innovation Action, with Large Scale Pilots Means: 20% Research & 80% Innovation TeSLA is one of the 6 selected projects for funding (universities, not usual, first) Total budget: 7.283.092€ Duration: 3 years - January, 2016 to December, 2018

  • 4. The consortium of the project 18 partners with a total of around sixty professionals from 8 Universities, 3 Quality Agencies, 4 Research centres and 3 Technology companies. Funded by the European Commission

Considerations about (e)learning The teaching and learning process is conducted (totally or partially) through the net Using ICT tools and resources (didactic materials, wikis, blogs, communications tools, etc) New (or not so new) syllabus components: Learning outcomes, methodology, activities and assessment models Teacher role’s: guide, facilitator, content provider (¿?), evaluator. Learner: self-autonomous learner, ICT user (and active searcher). Variety of LMS: Moddle, Blackboard, own university online campuses Big amount of data to be analysed for improving education quality But how can we tackle the (e) assessment process?

The e-assessment process as a cornestone in HE The education has evolved with ICT but NOT e-assessment processes We believe that ICT can make the educational system more reliable and credible new challenge to update the whole Educational process: e-assessment Assessment Models Learning Outcomes/Outputs/ Competences Criteria & Indicators ICT Tools and resources for e-assessment Feedback (formative) Peer and Collaborative Assessment Unsolved: Authentication and Authorship

Main objective To define and develop an e-assessment system, which ensures learners authentication and authorship in online and blended learning environments while avoiding the time and physical space limitations imposed by face-to-face examination. The TeSLA project will cover teaching and learning processes as well as ethical, legal and technological aspects.
  • 8. Some specific objectives Analyse and design the most appropriate learning activities for e-assessment. Introduce tools and resources in the learning activities that capture learners’ data. Conduct several pilots of the TeSLA e-assessment system for ensuring the authentication and authorship of the learners during the e-assessment processes. Provide a core version of the TeSLA e-assessment system free of charge for educational institutions, and a professional and commercial version. Hold a set of training workshops for teachers for enhancing e-assessment processes.
  • 9. Benefits Enhanced scalability for institutions. Now the full student lifecycle can be completed and fully accredited online. Protection and including extra security against academic fraud and plagiarism with digital and timestamp certificates. Support for new innovative and distributed learning methodologies. Technology agnostic solution. TeSLA works standalone or with any LMS that supports LTI standards. TeSLA will assure and guarantee the quality of e- assessment processes following the European Standard guidelines defined by Quality Agencies Better support for people with disabilities. It is not required anymore to travel to an examination center. Best in class experience for students and professors. Without major interference, students can now complete all their learning activities.

  • 18. How the TeSLA system works The institutions connect or integrate TeSLA within their existing learning environments; there are both LMS plug-ins and standard LTI connectors available. Professor creates an assessable learning activity; then he/she decides what level of assurance and security (which instruments) to include for this specific assessment. It is also planned that TeSLA can run stand- alone without any LMS integration
