â˘According to Gary Johns, "Organizations
are social inventions for accomplishing
goals through group efforts".
â˘Organizational behaviour is concerned with
people's thoughts, feelings, emotions and
actions in setting up a work.

Is a group of two or more people
working together to achieve a
common goal.
6. GOALS OF ORGANIZATIONAL
BEHAVIOUR
Describe
Describe systematically how people behave under a variety of
conditions.
Understand
Understand why people behave as they do.
Predict
The managers would have the capacity to predict which
employees might be dedicated and productive or which ones
might cause problems.
Control
Managers need to be able to improve results through the
actions they and their employees take, and organizational
behaviour can aid them in their pursuit of this goal

the organization. They consist of individuals and
groups.
Structure: Structure defines the formal relationship
and use of people in the organization.
Technology: The technology imparts the physical
and economic conditions within which people work.
Social System: The social system provides external
environment within which the organization operates

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR
â˘Scientific Management Approach
By Frederick Winslow Taylor- his assumption was
that employees are motivated largely by money ($).
â˘Bureaucratic Approach
By Max Weber- bureaucratic form of structure that
would work best for all organizations.
â˘Hawthorne Studies
Workers are influenced by social factors and
behaviour of individual is determined by the group.
11. BASIC MODELS OF
ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR
â˘The System Model
The system model emerged because of a strong search for higher meaning at work by
many of todayâs employees; they want more than just a pay check and job security
from their jobs.
⢠The Custodial Model
If an organisation does not have the wealth to provide pensions and pay other benefits,
it cannot follow a custodial approach.
⢠The Supportive Model
The supportive model depends on leadership, instead of power or money.
⢠The Collegial Model
The collegial model depends on managementâs building a feeling of partnership with
employees.
⢠The Autocratic Model
Depends on power which means that an employee must follow orders given or else
they will be penalized.
