Are you developing for a single site environment, but don not want to spin up a new development server for every site so you do not have to worry about multisite quirks? If you answered yes to either of these questions, a multi-tenant WordPress install is just what you need! Come learn how I adapted Cliff Seal's talk from WPCampus 2016 into a simple VVV site that allows you to develop for as many sites as you want while still maintaining the flexibility of having a separate directory structure and separate databases (not just tables) and still only have to update plugins/themes/core once for all of your sites.

Originally presented at PNW Drupal Summit 2013. Revised for BADCamp 2013. You have an aging Drupal 6 or even a Drupal 5 site. You know it's time to move up to Drupal 7. Now, how? There are two main ways to get there. You can perform a traditional upgrade, or you can migrate the data from the old site to a brand new site. In this session I will show how you can use these methods and discuss their benefits and drawbacks, including a thought process to go through when evaluating these options, drawing from some recent projects.

This year Drupal is 17. For over a decade the process of upgrading from one version to another was one of the biggest challenges. With Drupal 8 the ease of upgrading was one of most pleasant surprises. Looks like Drupal is getting out of teenage years and becoming quite a mature entity. By the end of this session you will know how to complete a content upgrade for your Drupal 7 or 6 website, and what is not included. We will do a step-by-step demo of how the migration process goes: Starting with out of the box vanilla Drupal 8 site Connecting to the existing website that you want to upgrade What modules you need for Drupal 8 Blocks, Theme, and Views migrations Options available for moving content from other systems: Feeds (finally ready for Drupal 8), Migrate Plus and other plugins. We will also discuss when you want to upgrade your site and when you want to migrate your site, and variations/combinations of these two cases. Session Takeaway: How and when to upgrade your website to Drupal 8 Expected Attendees: This session is designed for site builders, content managers and strategists who are planning overall site development.

Web services are a treasure trove of tools, content and data. I'll be exploring how we can use Drupal's frameworks to tap into these services. From strategy and selecting the right approach, to triggering, encoding and sending HTTP messages, I'll walk through how you might go about writing a custom integration that puts your Drupal build into a conversation with the outside world. I'll follow up with real world examples I've built to interact with NASA's ECHO Earth science data service (http://earthdata.nasa.gov/echo) and the Agile Zen project management tool (http://agilezen.com). The Omega Drupal 7 Base Theme is a highly configurable HTML5/960 grid base theme that uses built-in media queries to make the site responsive. Each zone (group of regions) can be configured for content first layouts, that resize and rearrange themselves depending on the screen size of the user's device.
