WHY AWARENESS?
Raising awareness is a great thing.
The more we know about breast cancer, the better
the chances of detecting abnormalities before
cancer develops or detecting cancer in its early
stages when treatment has its highest potential
for success.

At least every 3 yrs for women, 20 to 40 yrs
More frequent exam for high risk patients

First, don’t panic
 Changes in breast are absolutely normal &
often associated with development or ageing
 Usually goes away with menstruation, but if
persists, see a doctor
 You will be asked a medical history & exam will
be done
What If You Find a Breast Lump?

 History – when did u first notice, LMP,
breastfeeding or pregnant, past H/o lump, family
history, on HRT
 80% of breast lumps aren’t cancerous
 If it is cancer, the earlier it’s found, the better.
 And if it isn’t, testing can give you peace of mind.
