Dear Prof XXX and Dr XXX
I am a former lecturer at UoE in the Social Sciences. I note that you have written,
along with Dr XXX an interesting article on Hedge Funds. Thank you.
My query is this. Do you know anything about Gillespie Macandrew LLP which is a
law firm registered at 5 Athroll Crescent, Registration No. SO300743 (Haymarket).
I am also interested in their auditor Scott-Moncrief who are affiliated to the hedge
fund accountancy firm Moore Stephens. S-M is I believe the oldest accountancy firm
in Scotland and recently won the award as the best accountancy hedge fund.
I hope the information that follows does not limit your response. But I have noted
GM LLP have been deleting their registration number, registration address and other
items that are required by law to appear below their email signatures (not only).
Moreover there are 299 subsidiaries registered at the above registration office, but
around 95% or more are dormant but marked active, in that the auditor has
completed the online form (around £17) annually but there is no movement or cash
in their P&L, b/l sheet etc. The UK Gov (Companies House) has 'slipped', so to speak,
as they have taken filling in the online forms as a sufficient condition to be deemed
active. You and I know this is not the case, as one has to dissolve dormant companies
- in this case many coming under GM Secretaries covering the EEA but registered
under Scottish law at the above address. I do not believe thes subsidiary firms are on
the name board of the town hose 5 Atholl Crescent – again a requirement by law.
Please assist if you can, as the firm was entrusted with drawing up my Will and the
Trustees Powers refers exclusively to investing my estate (which I realise is
legal) except they are not liable in any way, and I like most others (except for the
family trust and associated Wills of Pinochet and Marcos) the estate is gathered
together and immediately sold by the Trustee/Executor. Head of Private Clients and
their Manager (latter 2nd
in command) declined to modify the template but
have charged me for emails (not in the 1st conditions of business out of 3) and only
inserted anti money laundering checks (3.5 pp) in the final COB I fear to satisfy
me. Please advice if GM LLP Private Clients (who draw up Wills) are a Hedge Fund as
they came up in my search. Also grateful if you would let me know if you have any
information on the law / investment firm including auditor who is a Hedge Fund.
PS in the UK and EU as elsewhere the above are illegal, and even in Switzerland that
operates under the 1934 Banking Act money laundering is no longer protected by
Swiss law. The Scots lawyers are breaking international, UK and Scottish laws for a
massive commission (hence partnerships).
