2. Abstract
● Smart world is envisioned as an era in which objects (e.g., watches, mobile phones, computers, cars,
buses, and trains) can automatically and intelligently serve people in a collaborative manner.
● Paving the way for smart world, Internet of Things (IoT) connects everything in the smart world.
Motivated by achieving a sustainable smart world, this paper discusses various technologies and
issues regarding green IoT, which further reduces the energy consumption of IoT.
●
3. Introduction
Green internet of things basically focuses on the energy, efficiency in the IoT principles.
Green IoT is defined as the energy efficient ways in IoT either to reduce the green-house
effect caused by existing applications or to eradicate the same in IoT itself
IoT system tasked with enabling a greener society
Reducing energy consumption of IoT systems while satisfying mission objectives
Green ICT: communications, networking, data processing
4. What Is IoT ?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and
digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs)
and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or
human-to-computer interaction.
5. Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has five fundamental attributes, according to the definition
of cloud computing proposed by the United States National Institute of
Standards and Technology.
7. What is GREEN IoT
● Energy efficient procedure adopted by IoT
● Reduces Greenhouse effect of existing applications
● Reduces energy consumption & CO2 emission
● Green IoT is defined as the energy efficient ways in IoT either to reduce
the green-house effect caused by existing applications or to eradicate the
same in IoT itself
11. Smart City
• Smart cities deliver clean water, dependable power, safe gas, and
efficient public lighting.
• They intelligently deliver essential services and improve quality of life.
12.
13.
14. Smart Healthcare
• Medical sensors offers flexible
operation.
• Patient can be monitored using
light weight wearable sensors.
15. How to ENABLE GREEN IoT ?
Green RFID Radio frequency network
Green WSN Wireless sensor network
Green CC Computer clouding
Green M2M Machine to Machine
communication
Green DC Data center
16.
17.
18. GREEN ICT PRINCIPLES
● Turn off facilities that are not needed.
● Send only data that are needed.
● Minimize length of data path.
● Minimize length of wireless data path.
19. OVERVIEW OF SENSOR-CLOUD
According to MicroStrains, sensor-cloud is ``a unique sensor data storage, visualization and
remote management platform that leverages powerful cloud computing technologies to provide
excellent data scalability, rapid visualization, and user programmable analysis''
20. RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OF
SENSOR-CLOUD
With respect to the sensor-cloud framework, proposes a novel sensory data processing framework (named
as NSDPF in this paper) to integrate WSN with mobile cloud.
The aim of NSDPF is to deliver desirable sensory data to the mobile users fast, reliably, and securely.
21. FUTURE SENSOR-CLOUD
Regarding the future sensor-cloud, we envision that the future sensor-cloud will evolve into
social-sensor-cloud (SSC), in which social networks (SNs)and cloud connect and complement each other
22. CONCLUSION
As an inspiring and latest guidance for research concerning smart world, this paper has discussed various
technologies and issues with respect to green IoT, which plays a signicant role in achieving a sustainable smart
world.
