The IPaB initiative has been all about people
participation. It is a shining example of the
fact that when people are given a responsive
and active forum to share their experiences
and document their suggestions, they are

more than willing to do so.

Times of India, 3 Sept 2010
In a positive step towards tackling corruption, Transport Commissioner Bhaskar Rao requested I Paid a Bribe to give him a list of

SP wrote to Raghu: Recently me and my wife applied for passport. the application procedure was very nice and simple. During
police verification the officer demanded bribe. How can we deal in such situation? I have read your suggestions at the site. Can we
expose these people?
While doing the verification only 2 of us were there in the office section for passport. Can I register a complaint in the same
police station?
Raghu's response: You can certainly raise your voice and say that you will complain to higher authorities. Also threaten to file an
FIR in the same police station! It is an interesting idea. Keep a complaint ready when you go to the police station, to show that
you are serious.
If you see the 'I didn't pay a bribe' page, you will be surprised to see the number of people who have raised their voices, and
scared away potential bribe seekers. In many cases, particularly where you want something legitimate, people just try to play
on your fears. If you act submissive, they demand a bribe. At the same time if you show you know the law and that you are willing
to raise your voice, they quietly back off.
SP: Actually for my wife I had to pay a bribe of 100 rupees. But for my passport renewal I am going to go that extra mile to change
the system.I got the call from police station yesterday evening. and I didn't give him any money this time. I don't know further
what will he do with that application but I am not in any urgency for the renewal :)

Siddappa is a private secretary in KPTCL. His wife runs an NGO in the education sector. Recently, a relative of theirs had an
operation, which went seriously wrong resulting in a life threatening infection, requiring further hospitalisation. Siddappa's wife
approached the doctor who botched the first operation and sought compensation, at least to cover the costs of the second
hospitalisation. The doctor refused. Furious, Siddappa's wife threatened her, saying that she will put out the entire information,
including the doctor's name, on the ipaidabribe.com website. The doctor promptly paid.
