4. The term Internet of Things was first
coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999.
It is basically a network using which
things can communicate with each other
using the internet as means of
communication between them.
The Internet of Things essentially a
gateway between the digital world and
the physical world.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is fueling
innovation in nearly every part of our
lives. Simply connecting the “things” that
were never connected before is leading to
new data insights that translate into
meaningful change.
5. Internet of things refers to the concept
that the internet is no longer just a
global network for the people to
communicate with one another using
the computers, but it is also a platform
for devices to communicate
electronically with the world around
them.
IOT connects billions of devices and
sensors to create a new and innovative
applications for the peerless life of the
humans.
6.
7. This is the concept of basically
connecting any device or servers with the
help of the internet .
This includes everything from
cellphones, coffee makers, washing
machines, headphones, lamps, wearable
devices and almost anything else you can
think of.
We started on PCs & servers and
moved to Smartphones, tablets and social
media.
12. The connected vehicle has been the
most visible and familiar example
of Internet of Things technology.
Cars, now-a-days can also provide
us GPS navigations, payment
transactions, checking out the
emails, listening to music, etc.
IoT technology is leading us
towards driverless cars that can
safely take us wherever we want to
go.
13. Automated diagnostics with the
system integration of the software.
It's a device you plug into the
diagnostic port in your car — the
same one mechanics use.
Security/Threat protection
16. PROS
Automation of daily tasks leads to better monitoring of devices
Efficient and saves time
Saves Energy
Better Quality of Life
CONS
Loss of privacy and security
Lesser Employment of Menial Staff
Complexity
Technology Takes Control of Life
17. The Internet gave us the opportunity to connect in ways we
could never have dreamed possible.
The Internet of Things will take us beyond connection to
become part of a living, moving, Global Nervous System.
And, we have only just begun.
18. The development of the Internet of Things, based on the
synergistic combination of several scientific disciplines and
technologies, creates tremendous opportunities for improving
economic competitiveness and citizens' quality of life. To
achieve the vision of communicating things, there are several
technical and non-technical challenges to be solved. We have
also discussed the impact of IOT for developing countries like
India with specific challenges and priorities.
