PERFORMANCE TASK SCENARIO (G.R.A.S.P.S)
Goal
1. Your task is to make a plan and budget for a four-day tour of a tourist destination
in Asia (wherever region may apply) to help the non-Asian visitors understand the
said place’s impact on the history and development of the Asian civilization(s).
2. The goal is to prepare a written tour itinerary for a four-day tour of a tourist
destination in Asia.
3. The problem/challenge is to be able to accurately give the right information about
the place in Asia chosen as a tourist destination (strategy: search the information
and other related data that best describe the tourist destination in Asia).
4. The obstacle(s) to overcome is/are: a. to help the non-Asian visitors understand the
place chosen as a tourist destination as far as its impact on history and development
of the Asian civilization is concerned; b. to convince the non-Asian visitors to visit the
place by way of accepting and/or choosing the right itinerary of a four-day tour in
any of the tourist destination in Asia.
Role
1. You are a travel and tour planner/organizer.
2. You have been asked to prepare a written tour itinerary, including an explanation
why a particular tourist destination in Asia was selected (at least five places
irrespective of the regions where they can be found); and a map tracing the route
for the four-day tour and a budget for the trip.
3. Your job is to present the written tour itinerary to the screening committee of the
travel and tour agency.
Audience (Roles are to be simulated by students)
1. Your client(s) is/are: a. the screening committee of the travel and tour agency; b.
the non-Asian visitors (the one who shall select/choose where to go in Asia after
the itinerary has been approved by the screening committee).
2. The target audiences are the non-Asian visitors.
3. You need to convince any of the non-Asian visitors to visit Asia by choosing a
written tour itinerary that you’ve prepared.
Situation
1. The context you find yourself in is to present a written tour itinerary of a four-day
tour that must be submitted the soonest possible time (agreement on meeting the
deadline is needed)to the screening committee through a verbal presentation
wherein the committee will have to accept or reject the said tour plan.
2. The challenge involves dealing with: a. the standards on how to make a written
tour itinerary set by the screening committee; b. the acceptance and rejection of
2. the tour itinerary; and c. how to convince the non-Asian visitor to visit Asia’s finest
destination.
Product/Performance and Purpose
1. You will create a written tour itinerary for a four-day tour in any of Asia’s finest
destination in order to convince the non-Asian visitors to visit Asia.
2. You need to develop/improve a written tour itinerary upon the recommendation
and approval of the screening committee of the travel and tour agency so that you
can easily convince the non-Asian visitors to visit Asia.
Standards & Criteria for Success
1. Your product needs to be adjudged.
2. Your work will be judged by the screening committee.
3. Your product must meet the following standards:
a. Rubric (see attachment)
4. As successful result will be based on the number of non-Asian visitors convinced.
