My career began with an MBA in marketing from Columbia University and subsequently working with several of
America’s premier companies including Scott Paper, T.J. Lipton in the packaged goods industry, and Donnelley/
D&B and Citicorp in the information industry. I learned the principles of marketing remain the same across all
industries including real estate. Know the product, know who the likely buyer is and shape the message and
message delivery to bring the two together. I moved to York, Maine in 1996, and shortly thereafter began a second
career in residential real estate.
Although I have sold a wide variety of properties, I most enjoy selling ones that speak to the quality of materials,
design, setting, and functionality. Many of these homes have unique stories that appeal to buyers and facilitate the
sale. I make a point of learning the history, whether they relate to the home itself, the property, a prior resident,
or a famous visitor. I draw on the importance of stories with many of my sales. My personal real estate experience
includes the sale of my 1850 farmhouse in Connecticut and the purchase of my Western Point property in York.
Additionally, I make a point of learning every feature or issue that may be viewed unfavorably. By recognizing them
ahead of time I am prepared to address the buyer with a remedy, explanation, or plan of action leading to a sale.
On a personal note, I have been deeply involved throughout the Seacoast. I have served in the community as the
Moderator of the York Leadership Forum, Vice Chair of the Conservation Commission, Founder & President of the
Seabury Neighborhood Association and member of the Governor’s Casino Taskforce. Additionally, I am a former
Trustee of both the Old York Historical Society and Trinity Church in York Harbor. My love of Maine and real estate
are evident in the fact that I conceived of, and co-authored, The AltMaine Guide: Your Alternative to the Usual
Maine Guidebook, and wrote The Real Estate Barometer, a weekly real estate column for two years.
Finally, but most important, are my operating principles:
