He was king of England and
Ireland after his brother Charles II
passed away in 1685.He was
deposed in the glorious
revolution.He was the last Roman
Catholic monarch to reign over
the kingdoms of
Scotland,Ireland,and England.
5. James was known for his belief in the
divine right of kings and his attempts
to create religious liberty for English
Roman Catholics against the wishes
of the English Parliament.
7. James and his wife Anne Hyde had two
daughters,Anne and Mary.
In 1677,James consented to his daughter
Mary to marry with the protestant William
of Orange.
8. James was a catholic while most members
of parliament were protestants.He removed
protestants and replaced them for catholics.

James tried to introduce his own laws which
were more tolerant for catholics.

James´s wife,Mary of Modena,gave birth to
a son James Francis Edward in June 1688.

daughter Mary who was a protestant.

the dutch Stadtholder,William III of Orange.

Orange to come to England with his army.
