3. Definition
We use the present continuous to talk about activities
happening at the moment of speaking.
We can also use this tense for other kinds of temporary
situations, even if the action isn't happening at this moment.
For temporary or new habits.
4. Affirmative
Subject + V. B. + verb (base form)+ -ing.
I am working.
He is playing.
We are sleeping.
5. Spelling Rules
If the verb ends with consonant we add only the –ing.
E.g.: Walking, Reading, acting.
If it ends with a vowel we eliminate the vowel and we add -ing.
E.g.: Write = writing, skate= skating.
Exception to the rule: Be= being Go= going Do= doing
NOTE: If we have a verb ending with double vowel, we keep it and we add the –ing.
E.g.: See= seeing
6. More Rules
Verbs ending in IE, we eliminate it and place instead a Y plus the –ing.
E.g.: Die= Dying Lie= Lying
If we have a verb with one syllable endind in consonant, vowel, consonant,
we double the last letter and add -ing.
E.g.: Swim= swimming, run= running.
Exception to this rule: verbs ending with -Y, -W, -X, we keep them and we
add -ing.

Subject + VB. + not + verb (base form) + -ing.
I’m not working at the post office.
We’re not palying videogames.
He isn’t studying spanish.
