F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby follows Jay Gatsby and his pursuit of Daisy Buchanan. Daisy, born into a wealthy family, represents the lavish and unattainable American Dream. As a debutante, her life has always been one of luxury and ease. While she was once in love with Gatsby, she has now married Tom Buchanan, though their marriage is an illusion of partnership as he frequently cheats on her. Daisy struggles with wanting more wealth and status than she already has as one of the richest women in New York during the 1920s Jazz Age.

American short story writer and novelist.
Although he completed four novel and more
than 150 short stories in his lifetime. He is
perhaps best remember for his Third novel ‘
The Great Gatsby’ this novel today considered
as ‘The Great American Novel.
Introduction

4. The Great Gatsby
This novel published in 1925 by Charles
Scribner’s sons. Set in Jazz age, New York.The
Novel tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self
made Millionaire and his pursuit of Daisy
Buchanan, a wealthy young woman he loved in
his youth.
Unsuccessful upon publication, the book is now
considered a classic of American fiction and has
often been called the great American Novel.

5. What is American Dream?
American Dream is a dream of wealth, money,
prosperity and going to the happiness that would
supposedly come along with the flourishing economy,
and the get rich quick schemes that built the
underworld of upper class- society in America.
Throughout the novel Fitzgerald displays how the
American dream is only a shallow concept of perfection
something can never be attained but can always be
reached for.

Daisy's life wasn't that easy and pink after all. She wanted many things but
as it happens to overly materialistic people she never had enough. She was
lacking in things and emotions. Tom and Daisy Buchanan’s marriage was
an illusion more than partnership. He cheated on her, She knew it and
couldn't leave the comfort his money gave her.
When Gatsby says Daisy’s voice is “full of money” he means that one can
Sense her wealth and privilege just from hearing her speak. The beautiful
Daisy has always lived a life of luxury, facing no consequences for her
words and actions.

Daisy says, “That is the best thing a girl can be in this world- a beautiful little
fool.
Daisy may not seem to be very bright a pempered heiress from an old Louisville
family. Daisy has lived a life of luxury and ease and she wants nothing more than
to keep it that way.
Daisy is delicate sweet girl with a thrilling voice , soft skin and pretty face. She
grew up in a rich family and is used to comfort and luxury. She simply can't
picture herself living another life.

her little white mobile. She is the enchanted object, the great American Dream. All bright eyes
and a voice full of money - and ofcourse she is the light - green light.
She is the golden girl and the incorruptible angel and all the platonic ideals that artist and
poets throughout the great ages have required their muses to be.

Daisy Buchanan has become an immortal character in Anglo- American literature
as the personification of the American dream.
Daisy is an immortal character of literature just like Elizabeth Bennett , Pecola,
Maria and many others.
We can also say that she is very suspicious to the influence of those around her.
She thinks like majority of people that surround her.
She wants to be person her friend's eyes would admire and most importantly
Daisy’s personality is a complete opposite to the narrator Nick Carraway, who
introduces her.

12. Conclusion
Daisy is more victim than victimiser.
She is victim first of Tom Buchanan's cruel power, but then of Gatsby's
increasingly depersonalised vision of her. One person may value someone's
outer and inner beauty differently than the next, therefore it is his or her
decision whether someone is beautiful or not. We can say that womens of
20th century who wants things readymade they don't want to do anykind of
effort for that.
