- 5. WHAT IS EBOLA VIRUS A virus which causes hemorrhagic fevers Live in animal hosts Humans can contract the viruses from infected animals.
- 6. BACKGROUND The virus was named after the Ebola river in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it was first discovered. It was first discovered in 1976.
- 7. TYPES OF EBOLA Ebola Zaire Ebola Sudan Ebola Ivory Coast Ebola Bundibugyp Ebola Reston The first four are found in Africa except Ebola Reston found in the Philippines which affects animal only.
- 8. CAUSE S Found in :- African monkeys. Chimps. Fruit bats. Pigs.
- 9. MODE OF TRANSMISSIO N Transmission from animals to humans Waste products (By Contact) Blood (By Eating Flesh) Transmission from person to person sick relatives prepare the dead for burial Medical personnel
- 10. Symptoms of EBOLA Redness in the eyes. Swelling of the genitals. Internal and external bleeding. Bleeding rash over the entire body.

- 12. Means to Help to Ease Symptoms Oxygen therapy Intravenous fluids Blood transfusions Medications to treat shock Pain medications
- 13. Tests and diagnosis Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

- 17. Vaccine Development SCIENTISTS ARE WORKING ON A VARIETY OF VACCINES THAT WOULD PROTECT PEOPLE FROM EBOLA VIRUS. SOME OF THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN PROMISING, BUT FURTHER TESTING IS NEEDED.
