2. What are STI’s?
• Sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) are
infections or sometimes diseases that are
passed from one person to another through
unprotected sex or genital contact.
• STI’s can be very serious and sometimes fatal.
They can also worsen and lead to other
infections if not treated properly.

4. • One out of every four Americans will
catch an STI between ages 15 to 55 years
old.
• Two-thirds of all STI’s occur in people
under the age of 25.

5. Side Effects
• Pain
• Worsening infection
• Infertility
• Brain damage
• Heart disease
• Birth defects
• Death

6. How to Prevent an STI
• Abstain from sex
• Use condoms
• Limit sexual partners
• Have your partner get tested before having
intercourse
• Don’t have sex with someone who has
noticeable signs
• Avoid alcohol and drugs

7. Health Consequences
• Can spread/worsen and potentially lead to
death.
• Increase likelihood of acquiring HIV.
• Can be incurable
• Can lead to mental distress
