The document discusses SeadafTM, a rapid flotation system for seawater clarification prior to desalination. SeadafTM uses a hydraulic flocculation reactor and patented perforated floor to provide high water circulation velocities and improved bubble adhesion. It is a compact, versatile, and easy to operate alternative to conventional flotation units. Example installations of SeadafTM include pretreatment systems for desalination plants in Barcelona, Spain and Al Dur, Bahrain.

4. WHY USE A MULTI-STAGE PRETREATMENT
DESALINATION
DESSALEMENT SYSTEM IN SEAWATER DESALINATION?
Seadaf™ • At large-scale facilities, onshore wells are replaced by
seawater intakes :
- This water may carry algae or organic matter loads on a
seasonal or permanent basis
The warmer the water, the higher the loads (as in Gulf nations)
• Need for a conventional or membrane filtration stage
before reverse osmosis
• Seadaf™ is used to optimize operations at this filtration
stage while minimizing associated water loss

Seadaf™ IN 3 POINTS
Seadaf™
Seadaf™ provides an alternative to conventional
flotation units by offering:
• High (25 m/h) circulation velocities with no degradation in
quality of treated water
• Improved coalescence and adhesion of bubbles and flocs
through a patented perforated-floor system
• Hydraulic flocculation reactor means very limited contact
between electromechanical equipment and water
