Present by
EBEES AUTOMATION SYSTEM
PVT .LTD JANAKPURI WEST
( NEW DELHI ).
AGENDA
• Automation
• Types of automation
• Need of automation
• Development of Control System
• Automation sector
• Automation device/software
• Advantages
• conclusion
WHAT IS AUTOMATION
Automation is the technique which is used in
control system (Industry) to operate the
equipments in sequence.
Or
 We can say that Automation is the delegation of
human control function to technical equipments
TYPES OF AUTOMATION
• Building Automation ( e.g. Lift ,Smoke detector )
• Office Automation (e.g. printer ,cctv cameras)
• Scientific automation ( e.g. rocket launch )
• Light Automation (e.g. street solar lighting ,traffic
light)
• Industrial Automation (e.g. bottle filing plant,
steel plant, power plant oil and gas etc.)
BUILDING AUTOMATION
Building Automation
Building Automation
System is often refer
to as an intelligent
building “smart
building” or (if
resident ) “smart
home”.
OFFICE AUTOMATION
Office Automation refers to
the varied computer machinery
and software used to digitally
create, collect, store,
manipulate, and relay office
information needed for
accomplishing basic tasks.
Raw data storage, electronic
transfer, and the management
of electronic business
information comprise the basic
activities of an office
automation system. Office
automation helps in optimizing
or automating existing office
procedures..
OFFICE AUTOMATION
SCIENTIFIC AUTOMATION
Scientific Automation is
the integration of automation
software with findings from
engineering science which go
beyond the limits of conventional
control. The basis for this is the
continually increasing
performance of PCs. The power of
the PC Control philosophy offers
sufficient capacity to integrate
numerous advanced functions
beyond standard control.
ROCKET LAUNCH /SCIENTIFIC
AUTOMATION
INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION
Industrial Automation is the
use of various control
systems for operating
equipment such as machinery,
processes in factories, boilers
and heat treating ovens,
switching in telephone
networks, steering and
stabilization of ships, aircraft
and other applications with
minimal or reduced human
intervention. Some processes
have been completely
automated.
NEED OF AUTOMATION
PLC is the Device
of Automation
Technique
WHAT IS THE NEED OF AUTOMATION
• To reduce human efforts
• To reduce production time of product
• To increase productivity of product
• To improve quality of product
• To improve safety in working condition
CAN I SEE AUTOMATION IN
DAILY LIFE
There are following example in which automation is used.
 Lift move up/down automatically after push switch.
 Toll plaza gate open/close Automatically
 Escalator rotate automatic in metro station /shopping mall etc.
 Traffic light control system.
DEVELOPMENT OF CONTROL
SYSTEM
PLC control
means complete
the task
Automatic .
IN WHICH SECTOR AUTOMATION IS
USED
• Power Sector ( Transmission and Distribution)
• Filing Plants ( Coca cola , Thumps up, Pepsi co)
• Oil and Gas ( Gail)
• Pharmaceutical
• Water Treatment System
• FMCG Company
• Lift System etc.( Shopping Mall, Metro station etc.)
• And many more
CAN I LEARN AUTOMATION
COURSE
The candidate should be
B.Tech/Diploma/BSc/MSc or pursuing
B.Tech/Diploma/BSc/MSc in EEE/EC/IC/EI/EN
branch .
OR
The candidate should be working in the field of
respective area.
WHAT ARE THE SYLLABUS OF
AUTOMATION COURSE
• Basic Electrical
• Basic electronics
• PLC
• VFD
• HMI
• SCADA
• Instrumentation
• Panel designing
• Auto cad
WHAT ARE THE AUTOMATION
DEVICE/SOFTWARE
• PLC (Programmable logic Controller)
• VFD( Variable Frequency Drive)
• HMI( Human Machine Interface)
• SCADA( Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition )
PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC
CONTROLLER
DEFINETION OF PLC
• PLC( Programmable Logic Controller) is the solid
state device that perform both analog and digital
signal.
• PLC take input from input device( switches,
sensor, Autorecloser, section analyzer) and make
decision depends upon logic created by user.
• After that it gives command to the output
device( Motor, Valve, Power station etc.)
WHAT WE LEARN IN PLC
• Concept of wiring with input and output device
• Creating logic on the bases of N.O/N.C concept
• Creating logic on the bases of Logic Gate.
• Creating logic on the bases of Timer
• Creating logic on the bases of Counter
• Creating logic on the bases of Compare block.
• Use of instruction like
MCR,CALL,SBR,JMP,RET,CJ,FEND, JSR, LBL etc.
WHICH LANGUAGE USED TO
CREATE LOGIC
Ladder logic has evolved into
a programming language that
represents a program by a graphical
diagram based on the circuit
diagrams of relay logic hardware.
Ladder logic is used to develop
software for programmable logic
controllers (PLCs) used in industrial
control applications. The name is
based on the observation that
programs in this language
resemble ladders, with two vertical
rails and a series of horizontal rungs
between them.
PLC LOGIC OF OR GATE
In electronics, a
logic gate is an
idealized or
physical device
implementing a
Boolean function;
that is, it performs
a logical operation
on one or more
logical inputs, and
produces a single
logical output
PLC LOGIC FOR AND/OR GATE
AND GATE behaves
according to
the truth table to the
right. A HIGH
output (1) results
only if both the
inputs to the AND
gate are HIGH (1). If
neither or only one
input to the AND gate
is HIGH, a LOW
output results.
VFD( Variable frequency Drive)
• VFD is solid state starter that perform
• To control speed of motor
• To reduce starting voltage
• To change the direction of motor either in
forward or reverse .
• To measure the
voltage/current/frequency/speed of motor.
VARIABLE FRQUENCY DRIVE
WHAT IS SCADA
• SCADA( Supervisory control and data acquisition ) is a
software .
• SCADA used to receive, monitor, and control the
field data at remote location with the help of
controller (PLC).
• SCADA software is installed in computer and
communicate with PLC .
TYPE OF SCADA DRAWING
In SCADA
software we
learn to create
drawing of
PLANT or Field
Process
HOW MUCH THE DURATION OF
AUTOMATION COURSE
• There are three types of modules and Summer
training program
• One month course modules
• Two month course modules
• Three month course modules
• Summer training for B.Tech/Diploma pursuing
students
ROLE OF AUTOMATION
ENGINEER IN INDUSTRY
• As Programmer Engineer
• As Maintenance Engineer
• As Application Engineer
• As Service Engineer
• As Site Engineer
• As Project Engineer
• As Sales Engineer
