4. • Proper specimen labelling is important to assure accurate sample
identification.
• Proper specimen labelling are essential for accurate laboratory
results.
• A laboratory specimen is a biological specimen taken by sampling a
patient's tissue, fluid, or other material from the patient used for
laboratory analysis.
• This specimen are used to diagnose a disease or understand the stage
a disease may already be in.
• Accurately identifying patients and correctly labelling specimens are
critical to ensure patient safety.
• If a specimen in not accurately identified, it can lead to delayed or
wrong diagnoses, missed or incorrect treatments, blood transfusion
errors, and more

5. Proper specimen labelling is important to assure accurate sample identification. Using electronic
hand held device, scan each labelled container to complete the collection process. If not using
electronic hand held device, complete collection process in the computer system for each
successfully collected sample.
