• It’s about a commitment to serve others
It is NOT about self promotion!
It’s about building your Reputation.

• Allows people to recognize what you stand for
• Represents the value that you deliver
• Requires you to be a role model, a mentor
and/or a voice that others can depend on
Why is Personal Brand important?
With Social Media, your personal brand is
becoming more relevant—you can see more
about a person and what they represent
It is essential for the advancement of your career and development as a
leader

• What differentiates you from others?
• What are the qualities, skills and the
expertise that make you stand out?
• How do you expose yourself to new
experiences?
What makes you interesting?
It’s easy to think that we are not interesting, especially
when we compare ourselves to others; however each of
us is interesting—we all have a niche.
Tell stories that inspire and encourage
dialogue; explain that you are an advisor
that brings value and delivers outcomes

• Develop your Personal Brand vision—think about what your personal brand should
be
• Find your story—storytelling skills can be used to inspire, persuade
and influence others
• Be mindful of what others are experiencing about
you
• Focus on being more of who you naturally are and
who you want to be
• Be seen and heard, and create a loyal audience
• Define your Teachable Point of View
Steps to Build Your Personal Brand

• Seek first to understand—Follow the most basic of Covey principles
• Turn the dial for a new perspective—Reframe your thinking
• Pay attention for ‘Nuggets”—These are golden ‘ah ha’ moments
when something really hits home.
• “Tic and Tie”—Cross your “T”s and dot your “I”s, get input, gain buy-
in
• Help our suppliers (internal teams) help us—Gain so much more
through trusted partnership
• “If you can’t hunt with a dog, hunt with a cat”— Don’t say you
“can’t” do something—be creative and find new ways
• Understand that true success is not $ or title or material
things—It is how well you touch the people around you
• Be yourself—Find your own personal power by being authentic
• Watch your pace—While you may love to run, take time to stand still
• Embrace the Blue Chair philosophy—Simplify life down to what is
most valuable to you when sitting in your ‘blue chair’ (from my mom)
