By Masha Koubenski, Matt Qemo, David
Schindler
2. Ellie
Ellie is an 11 year old in 5th
grade at Midland Elementary
School. She has been studying
Spanish for 4 years. She loves
reading books on her iPad and
playing games on her Alexa. Her
mom works late so she often
studies by herself. Her mom
doesn’t speak Spanish so she
can’t help with pronunciation.
3. Problems and Motivations
● Key Problem:
○ Ellie wants to do well on vocab quizzes and
learn Spanish
● Motivation:
○ Practicing in the classroom is not enough
○ It is hard to practice at home
○ Pronunciation is extremely difficult
4. Ellie’s Current Solution
● Ellie practices in the classroom and
with her mom when she has time
● She uses Quizlet on her iPad to
study at home
5. MVP #1
● Write an Alexa skill that can study in
either English or Spanish
● Hard code a vocab set
● Alexa can recognize if the right word is
said
6. Ellie’s Use Case
As a fourth grader, I want to study
Spanish more efficiently at home, so I
can learn the language better, and get
better grades. -Ellie
