VISTA Assignment Objectives and Member Activities
Goal of the Project: To recruit and match volunteers to service projects and
volunteeropportunities throughout the city. To build the capacity and sustainability of
RunningStart for careers and other complimentary partner programs.
Objective of the Assignment (Period of Performance: 08/14/2015-08/14/2016)
Provide outreach to raise awareness of volunteer opportunities in the City
Member Activity: Step 1: Create collateral materials, including flyers, web links to be used for
marketing volunteer opportunities. Step 2: Post service/volunteer opportunities on websites, social
media, and other approved media sources.Step 3: Provide presentations to community-based
organizations to raise the visibility of volunteer opportunities.
Objective of the Assignment (Period of Performance: ongoing)
Volunteer Matching
Member Activity: Step 1: Create a database of active volunteers. Step 2: Actively match volunteers
to service opportunities connected to volunteer talents, skills, and interests. Step 3: Engage existing
volunteer and service networks, including the United Way, NM Commission for Community
Volunteerism, and other volunteer networks. Step 4: Work with the Mayor’s Office to connect
volunteers to strategic initiatives, including Homework Diner, Career Corps, Running Start for
Careers, Talent ABQ and Living Cities.
Objective of the Assignment (Period of Performance: ongoing )
Volunteer Engagement and Recognition
Member Activity: Step 1: Put together a calendar of regularly scheduled volunteer recognition
events.Step 2: Engage local businesses to support volunteer recognition events.Step 3: Assist in the
coordination of the Mayor’s for Service Volunteer Recognition Day
