2. HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION
Education and pedagogy have their history since the times of primitive societies, taking into account that their
education was not scientific because they lacked teachers, schools, educational environments. If it was not based
on methods of knowledge and how to adapt and defend themselves in their environment and social life but little
by little this evolved
3. EDUCATION IN THE V
CENTURY B.C.
It is assumed that the first signs of an education in Greece that had the objective of
forming the individual originated in the 5th century B.C. with the flourishing of the
Hellenic cities where the Greeks recognized and conceived education as an integration
and a set of knowledge This was a model that many Asian countries chose as a
necessary part for man in different places like:
* Sparta. Who formed soldiers based on values and loyalty.
*Athens: was based on the cultivation of knowledge and the enrichment of the spirit.
*Egypt: was dedicated to agriculture, water aqueducts, architecture and writing.
*Rome: education was based on agriculture, written language, knowledge of its culture
and architecture as a model of teaching.
4. ACCESS TO EDUCATION
Education was a very fruitful advance at that time but not all citizens could access
it because of their social class at that time privileged the children of the rulers and
high commanders leaving the peasant without the opportunity to learn to write,
read, sing and so on.
EDUCATION IN THE MIDDLE AGES
In this process the Catholic Church founded schools to train monks and priests
which were run by the bishops. During this long period the Catholic Church was
introduced in all social and educational fields, managing to train teachers of
education with the aim of creating a silent, humble school and sacrifice counts as
part of obtaining eternal life.
5. EDUCATION IN THE RENAISSANCE
This movement of classical culture and science took place in the 15th to 17th centuries. In the middle of these
centuries, new thinkers appeared with ideas of a new pedagogical renewal which were
Erasmo de Rotterdam
Michel de Montaigne
Ignacio de Lolaya
Juan Comenio
John Locke
Leonardo da vinci
And other pedagogues and humanists who contributed in the society in the development of the following areas
such as: mathematics, astronomy, mechanics, geography, natural sciences, rationalism and humanism, invention
of the printing press and the discovery of America in these decades importance was given to the Classic Greek
and Roman culture and the Latin grammar is included in the schools and the first universities appear in Mexico,
Lima and Santo Domingo
6. THE NEW SCHOOL
The new school or active school began at the end of the 19th century and
seeks to change the traditional style of teaching and learning by placing
the student at the centre of the educational environment where the
teacher is not a dictator of information but a guide who encourages the
student to learn The highlights of this new school were Maria
Montessori, Ovide Decroly, John Dewey, Jean PIaget Georg
Kerschensteiner, Edouard Claparède, Adolphe Ferrière, Roger Cousinet
and Célestin Freine
7. HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF
PEDAGOGY
It has its origin in primitive communities when human beings went
from nomadism to sedentary
This is the moment when the transmission of knowledge between
parents and children begins, so the first pedagogical ideas arise
when applying techniques and methods to obtain provisions and
defend oneself from nature
8. Therefore the method of teaching is found in the ancient east as China, Persia,
Greece, Egypt that their education was based on a different religion with different
forms of behavior, beliefs among others. In those times the most famous pedagogues
and philosophers such as Socrates, Aristotle Lao-Tse and Plato stood out and their
objective was perfection with the teaching of diverse disciplines such as music,
aesthetics, poetry, literature
9. OLD ROME
It is the place where the Latin language, classical literature and architecture
originated and it opens the way to politics and it is here where the first role of the
teacher and the student is found
THE MEDIEVAL AGE
After this Christianity emerges as a new religion and way of life where the
Apostolic and Roman Church gains strength and begins to found schools with
their own teaching methods and values
THE 19TH CENTURY
New thinkers emerge who seek to change the teaching and learning process by
radically changing rote education which was teacher-centred and not learner-
centred and integrating women into the educational process
10. then stand out thinkers like Makarenko with his pedagogy ¨autoridad collective ¨
Paulo freire with his pedagogy ¨oprimido¨ and Neill with his ¨educación for life
¨los which propose an inclusive education where the student is encouraged to
think and not to obey and also where they emphasize that study is the weapon to
get out of backwardness and poverty
