1. Be a Better Writer
David Harris details a few simple tips to help you
become a better and more impactful writer
2. Be Ready to Answer, “Why?”
What is the desired outcome you want to achieve with these
words? Know the answer. Choose and commit to one intention.
3. Be a Straight Shooter
Nobody has time to decipher long-winded writing anymore. Short and
straightforward is the best way to increase the impact of your words.
4. Stick to the Basics
Imagine your audience is a room full of children, who have notoriously short
attention spans. Great, effective writing can communicate any point in a way
that even a first-grader could easily understand.
5. Watch the Clock
Do not waste too much time obsessing over the small details. So long as your
point is clear and at the forefront of your mind, your first draft may be the best.
6. Read it Out Loud
As soon as you have completed your writing, take a step back and read it out
loud. This is a great way to catch small typos, as well as feel the impact (or lack
thereof) in your words.
